Any added value to a 2007 60th anniversary edition 612?
No added value - just the 60th anniversary plaque. OTOH, Ferrari did produce the 60 612 Sessanta versions in 2007 to commemorate the anniversary. Those are the ones with added value.
Ferrari made 60 612s, called "Sessantas" to commemorate their 60th anniversary. I believe all were different paint and interior combinations, and each one had a unique badge commemorating an event in Ferrari history. They only went to the best customers, and were a significant premium over a regular 612. Mechanically, they were basically the same as an OTO (2008 612)-- if there are any differences, I'm sure Taz knows what they are.
Don- The Sessantas were pretty much prototypes for the OTO with all that model's features plus special badging and interior treatment and paint at the Tailor Made level. Some very attractive and distinctive, some just distinctive.
Looked at the 07 Black on Black 612 last weekend. Overall not too bad, although on the driver's door at the top above the door latch by the window rubber there was a slight bubble in the paint. This as well as a crack on the drivered side lower bumper faring gave me pause. The plastic pieces over the wiper mechanism had cracks where the screws were. someone must have been in there and tightend them down too tightly. Small chip on the top right of the rear bumper where the trunk lid sits. Interior and records up to snuff. Passed on this one at this point as there was little movement on their part in price.
I responded to your mention of this same car in another thread. I saw it and told them it was overpriced when they were listing it $5,000 lower last month. They wouldn't budge then. They will sit with it for a while. Nice car though.
Steven - those slight bubbles are pretty common on that era 612s. Mine has one, two others I looked at had them and the dealer was the first to tell me about that issue.
In 2004, every US model Ferrari built in calendar year 2004 had a 50 years of Ferrari in the US emblem replacing the crossed flags emblem near the ashtray. Was anything similar done for the 60th anniversary of Ferrari in 2007? Besides the Sessanta, that is.
Adam- Thanks, saved to hard drive. Finitele- You are kidding, right? That is the serial number. Explains many of your comments.
Mine had a bubble on the door. It was corrosion under the paint, and Ferrari fixed it under warranty. Not a cheap fix, either. They actually offered a whole new door, but we passed on that when they said they couldn't guarantee the new door would be corrosion free.
I had a similar issue with my 612, in regards to a chip where the rear bumper sites just under the trunk lid. The problem was the rear bumper was out of alignment, which caused the trunk lid to clamp down too tightly onto the top of the bumper. The solution was to remove and reinstall the rear bumper.
