I couldn't help noticing this TDF blue & cuoio 612 gated manual for sale in California on eBay (no affiliation): Ferrari 612 Scaglietti | eBay He seems to be asking a little more for the stick than an F1.
That is quite a premium for a 2005 with 20k miles. I know it is a 6 speed but $88k more than an F1 is a bit much.
I will be interesting to see what manuals will be worth versus F1's in 10 years time, a lot more i suspect
that is interesting.Would converting an F1 cost $100K then? I wonder what would happen if all F1 owner seing this convert their car to manual for $30K and then put them for sale for $180K...anyone seing $$ signs here?...
Are chopped Daytona coupes worth real spyder money? No. The factory knows which VINs are which conformation. Converting a common Ferrari to anything other than how it left the factory is a loosing proposition.
There was a 2006 6-speed 612 HGTC in Rubino Red on eBay last year for $139K, which is very rare. That price was reasonable. The price of this auction is way too high, IMO.
I saw that car on eBay about 2 months ago when I was looking for my 612. Seemed pricy back then, and seems pricy now.
Last year's 2006 612 Rubino HGTC 6 speed was my car. Still regret I sold it. IMO, the tide is slowly changing on 6 speed V12 F cars. This ebay car may be ahead of the curve somewhat. To get a fair deal on a nice manual V12 F you will have to find a guy that either is extremely motivated to sell or just doesn't understand/care about what he owns. Either way, in a few years it will be like playing the lottery. The guy that bought my 612 won the lottery last year as I was motivated to sell. The deal would have been quite different today.
Gated 599's have all but disappeared for a reason. I firmly believe 612's will end up at least more loved than they have been as well, so makes sense, yes, but agree this one appears to be way ahead of the curve.
Yup, on ebay for several months. Jakes had it for sale in August. No price listed so when i called they stated $105K... they later increased the price thinking it was worth much more. Not sure of the final sell price, but this certainly looks like a flip.
I'm just totally speculating here, but I don't think a gated 612 will have anywhere near the appreciation of a gated 599 or 360. The 612 is much more of a GT and sophisticated car than the other vehicles. I think most people who want a 612 are not as concerned with having a 3 pedal car. In fact, many may not even want a 3 pedal. I think the 612 is such a different vehicle than its contemporaries that the F1 may even be more preferable. But then I could be wrong.
Well, it really comes down to numbers. There are plenty of 360 manuals - unless there is some well-organized mass purchase by greedy speculators, you'll never see much of a premium for those. Not so with the 430 - expect to pay Scuderia level prices for 430 MT cars. For the 599 and 612, there were only about 10% MT produced. So, I expect those to be had at premium. I doubt the 612 attracts a different crowd of drivers than the 599 does - they are both front-engined V12 of same vintage and performance is not too dramatically different. Per above, there is a Gen 1 612 MT car being advertised on eBay around $189K!
Being a three pedle guy I can understand the asking price. Will he get the number? Who knows. But the last of the gated cars will command a primium.
Agreed, but you numbers are a little off. About 10% of the 612s were manuals, but it's closer to 1.5 % of the 599s were manuals.
If that is true, then I am very disappointed that a 2+2 would attract more MT buyers than the more serious 2-person GT car (599). Glad I own the 612.
I am still offering my manual 612. The price is 94.000 USD, but it a European car. If you are interested, watch the pictures and description under the section FerrariAds or send me a PM. Wolfgang
