Hello, does anyone have the stats on the 599 total production run and break down (GTO, Aperta, etc.)

    Thanks

So far, in my database, I have a little more than 300 599 GTOs confirmed - I think it's very safe to double that number, so you're looking at around 600+ GTOs.

I've documented 44 599 XXs so far, so I think it might be safe to bump that up to around 50.

As for 599s, that leaves us with 2,424 (documented), which, if doubled, is just under 5K. If I've documented two thirds, then the total number should be just above 3,600. Of those, I've only confirmed 157 HGTEs. If more people shared their serial numbers, I would have a more accurate account of what's what, and what's out there.

I believe there are about 3,025 612s or so.

It's probably safe to assume the 599 was more popular (and probably cheaper) as a new car. So, I would expect somewhere just North of 4,000.

A few people have commented on FC that there were more than 599 GTOs manufactured. What is the evidence of this? Why is this the common perception?

It is understandable that cynics would believe that more than the stated limited edition numbers were produced, but would Ferrari really risk their hard earned reputation with such a misrepresentation? Each car has a plaque stating "Limited edition: 1 of 599"

I hope that Ferrari is trying to repair their reputation by building the actual number of a specific model that they initially claim. Historically this has not been the case. The F40 and Enzo are prime examples.

Ferrari built 3,025 612s - and we know this because the very last one, the 3,025th 612 was delivered through Lake Forest Sports Cars. But I have one 612 with a higher serial number than the 3,025th 612; it's a US car, and it's considerably higher. In my database, I have just short of 2,000 612s, which means Ferrari built three or four thousand. The last one built isn't as important as the blanks before it.

Thank you, John! I already have 170968 in my database. A friend of mine spotted it, 08 October 2010, in Santa Monica, CA; red with tan leather, Alcantara seat centers, carbon fiber interior trim, Scuderia shields embroidered on dark carpets, carbon fiber door panels, shields, HGTE wheels, red calipers, rear parking sensors, and CA plates.

Other friends saw it a year ago at BMW North Scottsdale and Scottsdale Ferrari. It was still at Scottsdale Ferrari in January of this year.

Thanks, John! This, too, is also already in my database - but at least I know its current location. It was at Ferrari of Central Florida with 650 miles back in March, 2009. Ogden Autogroup of Westmont, IL, put it on eBay with 722 miles in August, 2009. Lamborghini Chicago had it for sale in October, 2009 with 735 miles. Domani Motors had it for sale, offered as a one-owner car, in June, 2011. That was the last I heard of it until now.

Ferrari has always produced more units of a given model than they said they'd make. They did it with the F50, the Enzo, the Aperta, etc. It's not cynicism - Ferrari said they made 400 Enzos, I have 495 Enzo serial numbers, and I have it on good authority that I'm still missing 30.

    Carbon,
My HGTE also has the carbon fiber engine bay covering, a crazy priced $11,000 option under the hood!
Can you advise your estimate of the total HGTE production cars? Hard to know, but has to be small numbers as only from 2010 and later by factory?
Nice work you are doing for the 599.
    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks, Mike!

Hi, Angus! I document all Ferrari VINs from all around the world! And I don't have many assets in Asia, so any VINs you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, John - although my efforts encompass the whole of Ferrari production, both past and present, not just the 599. As for HGTEs, I have a limited number confirmed (just under 200), and so I project that there are around 400 or so. I think it's important to note, though, that some pre-2010 599s have been retrofitted with the HGTE package (there's an '06 599 in Sweden that was fitted with the HGTE package). Also, FerrariChat member Andrew (ajyiii) recently owned a 2007 USA model manual 599 that was retrofitted with the HGTE package (and a really cool license plate). This also means that some post-2010 599s could've easily been retrofitted with the HGTE package.

Indeed there are a lot of dealers who like to entice prospective buyers with that all too appealing phrase, "one owner." Unfortunately, some of them are merely misinformed, while others are deliberately deceptive. Since some owners will buy a car and avoid titling it during the duration of their ownership, their ownership can slip through the proverbial cracks, and when the car is later for sale, its history gives the impression of having just one owner, or fewer owners than in actuality. That's one reason why some people appreciate what I do, while others want nothing to do with contributing. With that said, some Ferraris do occasionally bounce from dealer to dealer before finding an end user - but in this case, I believe the mileage changes implicate end user owners between availability.

    LOL!

I guess congratulations are in order. It's deflating to see a Ferrari owner trade in his car on a Porsche - but Porsche makes incredible cars, and the GT3 is no joke. You're gonna have tons of fun - just please be careful; she will come out on you if you don't respect her. Porsches have the rap video booties of the car world.

I may be wrong I remember reading something like 300 +\- world wide with roughly 130 cars for NA. Much less than GTO's...less than half, so they should command some kind of premium.
