ROMO, here is the link to the 599's catalog description: 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB | Amelia Island 2015 | RM AUCTIONS henryr: I know, right?!
No need to add anything else. saw the pics. W-O-W The price is gonna SKYROCKET i tell you. It's just BLACK ON BLACK. Stick ? Yeah, matters some. But look at dat. LOOK AT DAT BATMOBILE ! Take your white, yellow, brown, bordeaux, blue Pozzi, whatever cars, AWAY, and make space for the KING BLACK on BLACK.
In checking with the factory, we were told one of twenty. Meaning one of twenty cars delivered to the U.S.
personally, i think rosso corsa / beige is best color combo for ferrari despite the number of those that are out there. but i love my black/black m-roadster. in an ideal world... that is an ideal world for me! ... this would be red/tan and have a ton of miles on it. as it is, it has to be one of the lowest mile 3-pedal 599's out there, and that should command quite a premium.
I know several guys who seem addicted to black and even black/black. I don't care for it on any car for practical as well as aesthetic reasons. But I expect my final ride will be in the back of a black vehicle, so the joke will be on me, I guess!
In previous posts, Carbon has records of four black/black manuals in the USA. However, this one is likely the lowest mileage.
Have you had any issues with the 6spd? There is a fair amount of discussion on the forum post from a few years ago where some folks did not like it. I assume you did not have any problems given the "AMAZING CAR" description.
I have read every post about the naysayers. After driving the car i understand why they say what they said. I in turn say, They need to learn to drive. Carrera GT drives the same! I have about 1000 CGT miles as well as 1000 599 6spd miles under my belt. I like to call my 599 6spd a "mini" CGT.
1. Thanks for suggesting I learn to drive, I've learned to live with my limitations. 2. I'm sincerely pleased you think your car is amazing, sad if you didn't. 3. A 599 GTB isn't close to a CGT in character, a 599 GTO is but you'll never see a manual 599 GTO, I wonder why? 4. Auction houses are a business, and they do what they do brilliantly well........like convincing us mere mortals that a car which was never optimised for a manual box should sell for premium simply because hardly anyone opted for a sub-optimal stick shift when buying new in the first place.
All true. I've driven a stick GTB. I didn't think it suited the car at all. Felt like they dropped the transmission from the prior model into this and didn't do too much work to refine it. If you enjoy the car then thats all that matters but don't knock others opinions.
It's amusing to read the pontifications of those who have never owned a manual 599. Before I bought one I read all the posts from those who have and those who have not owned one, because there was this lore developing that there was something amiss with these cars. Thankfully, I focused only on what the two Ferrari Technicians had to say about the gearbox: that it was fine. Funny thing is, they are correct. Thank you Brian (Rifledriver) & Terry (Tazandjan). The manual 599 in my garage shifts just like many of my other Ferraris. It reminds me the most of the F40 gearbox. So let me state this from 40 years of Ferrari experience: the manual 599 shifts like a normal manual Ferrari. (Actually the 599 is better than a Daytona or GTC which must be thoroughly warm before attempting 2nd gear.) Now if someone had limited old-school Ferrari experience and primarily was accustomed to the F1 transmission, I imagine they would feel there was something wrong with a manual 599. Yes, manual Ferraris are gloriously archaic and engaging. They make the driver think and anticipate. If you are a video-game F1 driver, you will not appreciate the slow-hand. To answer question #2 in the quote above, there was no reported manual 599 GTO because that car is supposed to be a racing version of the 599 (or at least a poseur homologation. The 599XX is somewhat more true to form.) If one is racing these days, the F1 transmission is the only way to go. (I say "reported" because there is a rumored manual 599 GTO out there.) The Black on black manual 599 at RM Amelia is on the block this Saturday. I'll bet it sells for more than a comparable F1. Anyone care to guess what it will sell for?
