2-din infotainment upgrade for 612 - now available

Thanks for the info. I knew Ferrari had promised a replacement version, that was already available on other models, for the 612. But, had not heard anything.

 

Wonder if this is only for post 2007/8 612's or if it can be fitted to the earlier versions as well?

 

Well well. I'm having the Pioneer CarPlay unit fitted in mine tomorrow. I don't think I'm going to change my mind.....

 

Ive got the Pioneer NEX CarPlay unit in my 612 right now. Its great.

 

Do you know the exact model # of the Clarion your referring to?

Looks pretty nice...I bet it's a $10K upgrade from the dealer.

 

Clarion NX504E is the model number. In the UK it's a 500 quid bit of kit.

 

The factory option does look very nicely installed. I had a Pioneer Carplay unit installed this morning. First impressions are that functionally it's great, but the installation isn't as clean as I'd like.

They did come up with something for the 430 and 360 but it is a pop out screen that obstructs the air vents. This has a much cleaner look for the 612

 

I don't know about the cleaner look. Most 2-din installs I've seen on 612s seem a bit out of alignment with the limited space. Also, the multi-disk cover with the Flag insignia is very cool and I'd hate to lose that. Might be better to try the 1-din version and keep that cover, knowing the fit will also be ideal.

 

Depends if you are talking about the earlier cars without the Bose. This looks perfect replacement for Bose and I intend to order it as soon as I can.

 

Does anyone know if they will be doing a double DIN version for the 599?

I've seen some custom ones done, but it's a huge job. Not quite sure how Ferrari could overcome this, but...

 

Good point - I have a Gen 1 car with the Becker System and multi-disc stack below it.

I would love a Ferrari solution to upgrade the single din Bose. It would mean a lot from Ferrari to cater older models...

 

Moe D...is that pioneer unit capable of playing songs from an iPhone without a cable hook up?

 

Yes via bluetooth

I often play Pandora etc. also from my iPhone

 

If you look on the left column there is a list of sources, if you were to scroll down iPod is in the list, but of course you can also use the bluetooth option which is visible in the pic and and stream from any gadget

I'm very happy with the Pioneer choice- It fits and looks Good, and has every conceivable offering including rearview camera.

Something I should mention also is I changed out to a higher powered amp for the speakers and upgraded all my speakers as well.

I'd recommend the amp upgrade was well, but not the speaker upgrade. The speakers were a lot of work for not much result. The bulk of the improvement was the amp

 

Nick - have you made any progress on this? I clicked the website link that said a dealer would contact me, but no action yet. It looks great to me and I would only upgrade my Becker system ('06 612) with genuine Ferrari equipment, even though I'm sure other after-market products function equally well.
