Hi guys, I am interested in what people think about NART Blu as a colour for a 599. Does anyone know, even roughly, how many were produced. While it is not resale rosso, is the colour a problem for re-sale (maybe asking cause it could help me on purchase negotiations!!). Thanks in advance.
I think its a good looking color. I think the conventional wisdom for resale is red, black, and then everything else. So on the downside your potential market you will be selling into is smaller than if your car were red or black. However, the supply of blue cars is also smaller and your would be buyers know that. I think what this means in practical terms is either you have to discount the car a bit from where a red car would sell or you have to be patient to find the right buyer.
I completely disagree. There are too many red and black 599s on the market that aren't moving. However, unusual and rare colors stand out, differentiate themselves from the red masses. This is also true for the vintage market. A red Daytona or GTC is unimaginative, bland and a difficult re-sale. But then again, I am not known for being conventional.
Silverstone (dark gray) also seems to be a very popular color as of late - especially on the front-engined Ferraris. I think the Red / Black assumption is valid for the mid-engined cars, but not so much for the GT cars.
I have a NART blue 612 and the colour is beautiful, really suits the car. I think the larger front engine V12 Ferraris look so much better in metallic colours because they 'shrink' the car and emphasise the curves and lines. NART blue also gives you the kudos of being a special order colour so relatively rare. That said, go for what you like - you're the one who has to look at it everyday!
I happen to prefer colors other than Rosso Corsa for the front engine V12 cars. However, I have the experience of trying to sell a blue Ferrari and a constant comment is "hey, its not red!". I bet that NART 612 is gorgeous.
I also had a NART 612. I had nothing but compliments, I'm sure it would look stunning on a 599 and I hope we get to see pictures. Rich, deep color and you'll never run into another 599 like her.
I'm 100% certain that picture was taken at Katie's Cars & Coffee right down the street from me in Great Falls, VA. I need to hit that event more often.
Over here in UK, the various Blues Blue are probably the most popular colour for used 612, 550 and 456.
OK Bob, to be fair it depends what light you see it in. I recall an earlier thread on this topic on the non model specific part of this forum which you participated in - there were pics of similar cars in the two different shades. Would link to it if I could from this phone...
Bob, I know, not doubting that... Worth looking at the pics of the 360s in the second post of this link - NART Blue vs. TDF Blue - FerrariChat.com Shows the difference in shades well
