Just got one from Eurocars . . A black one with 11000 miles. I had a 550 for 6 years & loved it . . .This car has a LOT more power. I like all the "gadgets" (the video screen to the left of the speedo, the F1 shifter, the manatino, etc.) It's quiet, but when i get on it , the exhaust opens up & it makes a GLORIOUS sound. I have tried different manatino settings, & with the higher setting I can feel the car CLAWING for traction when I nail it. Great fun!
When I put it in neutral & gun it, it makes an incredible sound.
I never used to get "challenged" in the 550 but I get challenged in this car.
The wheels on the 550 were BORING (I got similar comments at car shows) but I see no need to change the wheels on the 599 . . .
It has the carbon fiber rotors, which I didn't want (the cost) but they sure STOP the car.
The 550 is a great car, no doubt, but it was so quiet it sounded like i was driving a Buick.
I had to put on bypass pipes for the mufflers AND the resonator before I could hear it properly.
The exhaust sound of the 599 is perfect.

Congrats! How are you liking the F1 vs. the gated 6 speed on the 550?

You'll love the car even more as you get used to it.

If you like the exhaust sound, you can have the valves disconnected to keep them permanently open instead of opening at 4500rpm.

The 550 was a moving work of art. The styling was perfect. the 559 looks good, it looks "awesome" in black. That is the only thing I lost in the trade, the moving sculpture.
The 550 was a little rough, the 559 is nearly a 100 point car.
I found out how hard it is to make the car really look clean. I must wash the towels & dry them in the dryer (not on the line) because the dryer draws the lint out of the material. I must run the towels thru the extra rinse cycle ..I must use a small amount of laundry detergent, because the chemicals in the detergent streak the car . . .
the 550 was silver & was easy to keep looking clean.I carry a detail kit & a California duster with me to car shows . . There is something about the 559 that makes it look incredible in black., so maybe it is worth the trouble.

I usually keep it in manual mode because I like to decide when it shifts.

Use an electric leaf blower to dry. There is a zero percent chance of any contaminants getting caught in blowing air, thus no chance of swirl marks from drying. Added bonus is you blow out water from hard to reach places.

    Purdy 599, congrats.

Beautiful 599. Drive her in good health. My absolute favorite color combo is black on black. Once you go black you never go back !

Congrats on the new car, I wish you good luck with it.

BTW, I would lose the California duster if I were you.

Well, not quite...I've had a black M-B for 33 years and find myself cussing the day after every wash job all those years. Went Rosso Corsa with the F-car. I know, it's a cliche but I love it. But is there anything richer looking or more beautiful than a clean black coupe with saddle tan (or black) interior? Probably not! :)

Never thought about the leaf blower idea...I'll have to try that.

Thanks for posting the photo. Your going to love the car.

I was at the (Palos Verdes) Peninsula morning cruise Sat. April 4 with my black 599 & a salesman from South Bay Ferrari (new in Torrance) showed me that my black 599 has something call "clear bra" on the front fenders and hood. I had noticed that there were no paint chips on the car.
I had the dark window tinting removed (I couldn't see who was behind me very well) & we saw that there are THREE speakers under the grille below the back window (I thought there was one). I have the Bose upgrade & it looks like the car has eight Bose speakers. I don't feel like I need to upgrade that. The stereo front end, however seems to be diabolically designed to make it as hard as possible to program. I would say it is truly user hostile.
Once I get a station I like, it sounds great. I don't listen to the stereo very often anyway. (guess why).

First of all congrats - that is a ton of car.

Secondly - i suggest some quality microfiber towels but more importantly - i suggest a proper detail (polish/swirl removal) with a coating or sealant. This will make washing the car easier.

There are forums devoted to this so i wont get into detail but you may also want to try drying your car with wet microfiber towels which after a proper polish and seal works and lessens fine scratching. I use a blower which is better than rubbing anything dry on the paint.

It's hard to beat a black 599 with challenge rims. Congratulations!
