    All 612 have belts?

If not, which year models do not?

Yes - it is my understanding that the 612 was the last to use that particular engine, which was also used in the 456, 550, and 575 series. All of the 612 cars require belt change.

Beginning with the 430 and 599 (and Enzo), Ferrari began using the chain-driven, Maserati-Ferrari collaborative engines.

Sean- Change interval is 5 years for the cambelts on all the 612 engines, F133F and F133H.

Any idea why 3 year change is specified for Euro spec cars?

Do you know if there is there a service bulletin for this? I never understood why US and European service schedule is different for the 612 - the US belts and European belts have always been the same haven't they?

    Guys,

Drove my first F1 today. It was awesome. Had a blast. Much different from anything I anticipated.

Bulletin on the 575M belt change interval changed in early CY 2002 for the 575M and was updated to include the 612. That was the time of the introduction of the Kevlar reinforced belts. Translation of the one from Maranello.

Has never been 3 years on the 612 as far as I know. Look in the maintenance schedule in the warranty book. All 612s were fitted with the Kevlar belts.

It was actually, an older 360 that I did this in. For all the time Terry counseled me on how to drive one - it did rather well for two stoplights.

This post was to determine if I could include a 612 as an option for the next car. Since it still has belts only the 430 & 599 are options. I've stated already that I want 599. Being realistic at this point. If I sell my car and with the cash I have on hand - I'll still only be at $100. Quite. Gap to get a 599.

Don't buy a 612 if a 599 is what you really want. You won't be happy.

I would agree, having a European 612 from 2004, service book says 5 years.

My girlfriend said the same. She said sell yours and save to get what you really want. Don't get a 430 just cause you can afford one.

Good advice! The anticipation of waiting for what you really want will be far more enjoyable than owning something you don't.

Sean- Like Kermit says, it is tough to be green. A shame, since the Maranello looks so good in green.

Kermit is his buddy. Takes him everywhere. Never destroys it. Believe it or not he's been doing that with the same toy for years
