Hi all, I'm in the market for a 599 and would greatly appreciate any guidance on things to lookout for beyond the obvious. Also very keen to hear views on buying Ferrari approved vs an independent? What are people's experiences with the Ferrari warranty etc. I'm ideally after a sub 20K 08/09 plate in a dark colour, there aren't too many on the market at the moment... Values seem to have been creeping upwards recently - interested to hear thoughts on this aswell! Cheers
In February I started a thread here titled "Fiorino Owners and Cognoscenti..." that has lots of useful information. And get FORZA #135 (August 2014),which has a 599 buyer's guide. One item not covered in these two sources is that tie rods and ball joints can be a problem.
Jon, Email me the info on your current 599 GTB and let's see what the number is on it. You can email it to: [email protected] Thanks and have a great night! Hank Carpenter 336-516-3855 cell
Thanks for the replies! Probably should've mentioned I'm in the UK. Over here prices look to have bumped up quite significantly in the last month.
Based on recent experience I would say you cannot trust the Approved program (see thread titled Airbag Woes). I would treat the purchase like any other used car purchase and get your own inspection done. The warranty is like any other - expensive peace of mind.
In Germany the 599 prices have increased significantly as well in the last few months. I am happy that I bought one April last year
On trade-in values, my local dealer called me up a couple of weeks ago wanting to know If I was interested in selling my 599. It is a 2008 with 11,000 miles. He offered me $135,000. I turn him down.
