I collected my new (to me) 612 on Friday. 2006 with 43,000 miles. It had been stored in a collection until recently. The dealer showed my bills for $10,000 for servicing, suspension etc.

After driving for about an hour on a freeway at around 80 mph I pulled off the exit and came to a stop. The CEL light came on, although the car continued to run perfectly. I called the dealer and he said that as the car had not been used much for the last six months it might just need resetting, which I did by switching the battery off. I used the car over the weekend without any further problems.

Then this evening, after another hour at 80 miles an hour on the freeway the light came on when I came to a stop. When I got home I plugged in the scan tool and it showed the following codes P0507 P1137 P1138. I won't be able to get back to the dealer until next weekend, and I wondered if I would do any damage by using the car with these codes?

    Any ideas?

Buy a can of BG-44K and put it in the gas tank. Fill up to 3/4 tank. Go drive the piss out of your car until the low fuel light comes on.

Report back on how the car is running.

I think you have some dirty injectors, etc.

I've never owned a 612 or a modern Ferrari. But my .02 is that CEL only matter when you're trying to pass inspection. I'm not aware of any damage possible while driving with a CEL. It's an engine, you'll know if something bad happens. Not light is going to pre-warn you of impending doom.

So I am half way through my tank including BG-44K, and it is taking much longer for the P1138 & P1137 codes to come on. The P0507 code has now disappeared completely. I have noticed that they only come on after I am in heavy traffic following a long (1hr) freeway run and it seems to coincide with higher than normal revs at standstill (1050 rpm).

I took it to Ferrari who diagnosed leaking inlet manifolds. They replaced the gaskets and now it's running fine and without and fault codes.
