This looks like a nice car, good colour scheme, and low mileage... 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti | London 2015 | RM Sotheby's
Tuned in just before the 612, caught the Jag before it only. Market stabilizing/weakening? I actually suspected atleast 50K higher...
It'll be interesting to see how this effects the NA market. Most European economies aren't doing so well right now. IMHO it won't affect prices over here much, although it does make importing more interesting. I thought the 575 prototype would be in the $200k US range, but it didn't even break $100k US!
The 575 number was nothing but pathetic...I imaged at least a little craziness! Murcielago triple record car was also very low.
That's because there were only a handful of manual 599 vehicles built. About 10% of 612s were manual - much higher numbers. For comparison, consider a MT 360 vs MT F430: There are virtually no premiums for a MT 360, whilst there are very high premiums for a MT F430. It comes down to numbers; there are a healthy percentage of MT 360 Ferraris, but a very small fraction of F430 vehicles. It all comes down to speculators - they are the ones driving the prices up. They do not go by performance - it's simply rarity.
Less than 50 Manual 612s apparently. 10% rule applies to V8 Ferrari's (especially 430. I reckon at least 15-20% of 360s are manual) more. I think for 575 It's less than 8%. 599 GTB has over 50 manuals.
Your numbers are way too low for the 612; unless your referring to a specific country. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/612-599/495247-199-manual-612%B4s-built.html 10% V8 Rule? It may apply to F430 only. What other V8 does it apply to? There are only 1 or 2 California MT cars. I'm not buying the "over 50 manuals" for 599 either. Where is your evidence?
RM mentioned that there are only 43 manual 612s - but this is a somewhat economical description because they were referring to European spec cars only. There are considerably more in total - and certainly not as rare as a manual 599
My ''10%'' saying has come from the generalisation when people say that ''only 10% of Ferrari's made right now come with a manual'', a few years back. People generally took that as that off each model made at that time, around 10% are manuals, which was simply false, as the 599 and 612 proved, made at the same time as the 430 of course. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141202573-post13.html Whilst that is not absolute proof, Toolfan has deep knowledge of all things Ferrari, attack it anyway you like, his statement is a solid guideline. RM themselves mentioned the 50 manual 612's. Might be a tad on the low side but I've got sincere doubts it even touches triple figures world wide. I've been watching the Euro market on these for years and for all cars mentioned (575, 612 and 599), manuals have been very rare. Even (well) before the market with bat**** insane. Thank you. A bit more than 8%, but I wasn't far off!
You stated 10% rules applies to V8s. 575 is a V12 - not a V8. I wish Ferrari was not so secretive about their production numbers.
Well it sold for more than I expected and than their estimate was... So not bad overall for a RHD with the wrong color... There seems to be a grand total of 199 612 manuals in the world, about 80 in the USA... That makes it a rare Ferrari, last of a certain breed, albeit not as rare as the 599 manual.
