I'm looking at adding either one of these to the stable. I know the 599 is superior in every performance way, but I LOVE the 575 classic lines. Prices are $24k apart all in. What do you guys think? Lmk what you guys think. Thanks!

    Most important question is:

What are your plans for the vehicle?

Everyone in the 599 section will vote 599.

Look at both in person, choose the one that moves you more.

Subjective opinions may steer you wrong.

I'm not sure there is a right way to answer this question, it all comes down to personal preference at this price point. If I ever sell my 430 it will be a for a 599, no doubt about it.

All good input so far. How much does too much acceleration matter to you? Are you a numbers guy, faster the better, or are you satisfied at a point? I thought the 133 motor in the 612 was plenty fast and didn't care about the additional power from the 140 when I went to the 599. For me, the 599 was all about style and comfort, and the better F1. And that's really the biggest mechanical consideration. If you're going for a gated 575, disregard. But if you're actually going to drive the car, you'll really appreciate the F1-S, and the clutch will last five times longer in the 599. But if you love the 575, how do you not buy it?

Do all 599's have the F1-S? I thought the first couple years did not, and it came around 2010?

I believe that they do. I drove a 2007 and it was clearly F1-S.

I had the same decision to make as you last year. I was looking at either a 550/575 or a 599. Remember the 550/575 was about $25,000 less last year and the 599 was about $10,000 more. The final decision came down to how important a manual transmission was to me. If the decision is between a 550/575 F1 and a 599 F1 superfast it would have been hard for me to pick the 550/575. I chose the 599 for the power, the F1 superfast transmission, the styling, and the driving experience. In my opinion the two car just do not compare. Of course I chose the 599.

599 unless you want a manual shifter. Cheaper maintenance as well. Remember, it has a slightly de tuned engine from the Enzo. I can't wait to get another someday. Just beautiful design, but to each their own

I have had a 550 then 575 now an SA. Love Maranellos in every version. Now I have a 599. I think Sean asked the key question. How are you going to use the car? I feel the 599 is more bulletproof and a better all round GT than the 575. I kept the SA for fun and sunny day drives. The 599 is for trips or even daily driving. I never felt that way about the 575 or 550. The 599 is solid.

I think you need to do some more research before you make a decision. Either that, or just buy both! ;)

I never owned a 575 but I bought a 599 in '07. It was one of the first in the country and I still have it. It is a wonderful car. I also own 5 other exotics.

For me, it would be more of a comparison between the 550 and 599.

The 550 is the classic GT car with 5-speed manual and aggressive styling. It also signaled the return to the classic front-engine V12, and away from the flat-12 heavy-weight mid-engine Boxers & TRs.

The 599 is a much bigger, better performing car; with mid-front engine design, superior brakes, F1-S, and much more power.

But, I suspect the 550 will be a more connected car.

Just curious - what are the other 5 and how does the 599 compare?

    Thanks.

I own both - a Fiorano and a 575M. These cars are absolutely different. Maranello feels like a classic but very powerful car. The 599 is much more faster and still feels as an up-to-date car. Completely different feelings they give. I like both of em.

All great advice. If I was getting something to feel more connected with and drive once in a while then its the 550/575. If its something I will drive more often and or on longer highway rides then its the 599. Both are great choices but one is a bit more old school and analog and the other is a bit new era and more digital.

Instead of starting a new thread. What's the best oil to use and is it easy to change on the 599? Is the filter accessible underneath the veh? Also, how many quarts?

Careful. Dry sump systems are tricky to top off, has to be done while running. Over filling will foul your MAF sensors and cost you a bit to replace. Make sure you well research it before attempting your own oil change.

Tough call i have a 550 because I wanted the more classics feel .. Love the looks of the 550/575 .. Instead of a f1 575 either go with a gated car or the 599 which is a significant improved car but kinda big.. Right now the 599 is a great deal....

Yep, mine is with F1 transmission. All my cars except 456M GT and my lately ex Diablo have F1 type gearboxes.
