Currently a 575 owner and considering the 599. Is this almost fully depreciated? IS HGTE the way to go? I plan to drive the car 1k-2k miles per year and keeping my 575. Any suggestions to get started would be greatly appreciated

Just got my 599 nearly three weeks ago -- a 2007 with 20,000 miles. Also have a 550. The 599 is an outstandingly quick, luxurious and competent car and is generations newer than the 550. While I miss the manual transmission of the 550, I am very quickly getting used to the F1. Interestingly, the 599 has the same problem with sticky switches as the 550. Am looking forward to not having belt changes and the 599's increased reliability. Love them both. 599 is Rosso Rubino with Beige.

The car is so much fun to drive! Very involved, it is always an "event" when you go out with this car. Go for it.

The paddle shift is also very entertaining, it feels as if you a pulling a "trigger" on a pistol.

Thx for your comments. Rubino is one of my favorite colors for this car

Also recently picked up a 599 (on Saturday) in addition to a 550. 550/599 is a totally complimentary combo. Compared to the 550, the 599 is frenetic and modern, but still visceral and connected. It feels extremely special.

I love the transmission. It works flawlessly and is perfectly suited for the car. It's also why it fits very well with the 550, where the experience is about clanking through the gears and enjoying it at your own pace. While I like the concept of a manual 599, similar to my experience with a friends six speed 430, it's probably not everything you'd hope for in practice. Clearly not designed to be manual and feels like an afterthought that wasn't fully executed in the 430. Very likely the same with the 599, which has similar sensitive/manic responses to inputs.

I don't have a ton of 575 experience, but my hypothesis is that the 599 is more duplicative when being added to a 575 instead of a 550. You might not drive the 575 any more! Either way, the 599 is epic. I'm in awe.

I assume that was your car on Coconut Row yesterday? Looks great.

Joe: The car came from Delray Beach, FL. Was delivered to NY on January 2nd, so the car you saw on Coconut Row was not mine. Had two weeks of driving before snow arrived and car now in RI. Your analysis is very astute, especially around the appropriateness of a manual transmission in the car. The car is indeed frenetic, which I really like. Frank

I noticed the one picture you posted at F of PB so figured the car I saw yesterday could have been you! Beautiful.

Very nice. Red and black seem to be the right colors for this car.

Red / Black with red stitching looks terrific and especially with the HGTE alcantara seats. I like black/ black as well, but not a good combination for Dubai weather. Honestly, I think you can't go wrong with any color, and the 599 is a terrific performance value at today's prices.

Thought exact the same this afternoon, Bernhard.
    :)
I believe the last months, there are 5-6 guys (included you and me) who included a 599 in addition to the 550/575.

A trend has perhaps begun. A dealer just wrote to me, saying now is the time to buy a 599 -- be on the buy side, not sell side. (Great pictures, all!)

The trend seems to be on its way some time already. In Europe the bottom was about 2 years ago. Today I would have no chance to get a comparable car at the price that I paid then. Asking prices presently are about 20 k€ higher, minimum.

Presently the 599 seems to be "pulled" somewhat together with the rising classic Ferrari prices.

    Cheers, Bernhard

Well heck, let me jump on the bad wagon as well... The 599...it speaks for itself. Surpasses all my expectations. If you find one , buy it and cherish it for what it is... A true GT, in a class all by itself. Where else are going to get a car with an Enzo V-12 ! Got my HGTE over a year ago and although I've contemplated selling it, I just can't bring myself to doing it only because I'm enjoying it way too much and I don't have the means to get into an F-12 just yet !

After 2/3 is depreciated, the time is right to go for a 599. I bought a factory HGTE 2 months ago and am very happy. As there were not many original Hgte built from end 2009 until end of production they will hopefully keep their value even better. Good luck!
