Just picked up a 2009 599. The made-for-Ferrari Clarion touchscreen radio unit was installed (pics below) by previous owner and I'd like to change back to OEM (pic below of OEM unit and carbon housing that also came with car). The Clarion does not fit into the carbon fiber cover housing. It has its own surround. I want to get it back to stock with the carbon fiber cover. Anyone have any details on this? I have been told by a local installer that the entire dash has to come off in order to accomplish this. I cannot believe that to be true. Is it plug-and-play if I go back to OEM, or do I need any programming, etc? If anyone has any info, I'd be much obliged.

    Best,
    Will

The dash definitely does not have to come out to install.
Do you have the oem radio code?

Thanks for the reply. That's a good question. I have all original books, etc. Would it be in there somewhere? What happens if I don't? Is there a way to get it?

I'll take a picture of mine today so you know what to look for. Should be a card with a 5 digit number to unlock the radio after installing (or any time the battery is disconnected). I believe the dealer can get it but they charge a hefty fee for it.

Does anyone else have anymore knowledge of this?

If the radio housing with the attached carbon fiber cover was removed to install the Ferrari Clarion unit, how do I uninstall Clarion and reinstall the housing with carbon cover and oem radio unit?

Again, my main concern stems from a local hifi installer who says he has to remove the entire dash to make the swap. I'm a pretty adept diy-er, but don't want to get in over my head and the removal of the entire dash may be over my head. I also don't want to pay the $3k he is quoting in labor.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I want to do the opposite! I have a 612 and there is a 6 CD holder underneath. Ferrari do a nice double din upgrade but the price is quite ridiculous. Unfortunately you don't seem to be able to buy the surround on its own, even from Ferrari and I do not want to damage original equipment.
