How many 599 miles are too few?

    Long time lurker on this forum. Had a 550 15 years ago. Great car and great looker. I have my sights set on a 599. I love the way it looks and it's plenty of car for me. Not really interested in an F12, purely based on looks.

    The question I'm posing is in the title. When checking out possible cars on-line, I always look for the lowest mileage models. After reading a good number of the threads in this forum, I'm getting the feeling that that may not be the way to go.

    I've seen a number of people say that it's better to get a car that's been driven. How much? How many miles per year is healthy for a car, particularly a high-performance one.

    A good rule of thumb seems to be 800 / 1000 miles a year

    I can't speak for lowest, however, I'm about to cross 30k miles on my 08 599 and it's been running strong.

    Less than 1000 a year would indicate lack of use/garage queen/neglect.

    I recently saw a 599 in for $20,000 worth of work to put it right, and I was told most of the problems (albeit some very minor) Were due to lack of use

    It was a 2007 with 7,000 miles on it

    That's not to say all low mile cars have problems tho

    Mine is 2007, has 10,000 miles and runs like a charm. I guess if maintenance was done thoroughly...

    Mine is a 2009 with 31,000 miles, runs like a train. This mileage is nothing for these cars, they want to run.

    There is a 599 that did over 250,000 KM, with no problems at all.

    There was a thread on that car - these engines can go on and on.
