Has anyone ever lowered a 599 (about 10-15mm) on the original springs without spacers ?

Recently found out spacers are illegal here in Australia, so might not put them on, but I'm still not a fan of the stance on the GTB.

Has anyone ever lowered a 599 without spacers ? If so, any pictures ? Wondering if it will look really weird

    Thanks

Will not look weird. HGTE cars sit 10 mm lower than stock and in my view look fine without spacers.

The conservative offsets are even more exaggerated in person. There was a delay in getting my spacers, and after my car was lowered I chose to leave it at the shop. I didn't want to take it home looking like that.

If spacers are not legal in Australia and there is no way around them, look for a set of wheels with the proper offsets.

Do you mean a lowered 599 (10mm) with no spacers will exaggerate the conservative offset even more and make it look worse?

So many things motoring are illegal in Australia, I remember the 4 series convertible had some sort of restriction in Australia and australia only as it was deemed to be dangerous, whereas the rest of the world was fine and everybody didn't start dying everytime they got into a 4 series convertible.

599 in black with the badges and matching yellow calipers is a show stopper. I will never forget mine!

The lower you go the more it will be obvious. So @ 10mm you might be happy with it. But if you go even lower like my car, the stock wheels (without spacers) will look very out of place.

I don't remember offhand, but I want to say about 25mm in front and 30mm rear? I'll measure the front bumper clearance tonight for your reference.

Basically I have HGTE springs at the lowest possible height.

Here are a couple of pictures how the car looked without spacers. The oem wheels are VERY inset, and the rears are the wider 315s already.

Wow yes that does look weird and is what I was afraid of.

Yours looks weird without spacers whereas the black one above with pentagrams looks great without spacers. Black car was only lowered 15mm tho As far as I know.

Can I just confirm that in the above picture your car was lowered as much as possible on HGTE springs ? (Possibly 25-30mm)

    Thank you

Qksilver's car isn't as low as mine, and the angle of his pictures don't show the inset depth as much either. Two differentiating factors.

Yes, my car is lowered f/r about 25mm/30mm. Since most cars can have slightly differing starting heights I'll measure the front bumper height off the ground today and at the wheelwells for you to compare.

3 measurements using a tape measure:

    1) lowest, rearmost edge of the front bumper (just ahead of the front tire): 3-5/8"
    2) front wheelwell: 26-7/8"
    3) rear wheelwell: 29-3/8"

Measured in my garage, where I *think* the ground is pretty level. Will double check when I pull it out this weekend.

Joe, how did you get your car that low? Is it on oem springs?
