I saw what was supposed to be the 2014 Vette in New York at the Javis center. The car they showed was very nice. But my experience with GM has not been good and the final cars do not even remotely look the same except for a few small ques. I having said that I love my ZR1 aut want to see in person the C7 before I change. I hope the C7 will be a rotal revamp on the exterior. I think the car is getting stale looking. Each new chasis from GM was a better car. I think they are now world class vehicles. Lets all hope :ee
I wont be buying any new vehicles from GM, not since they are now owned by the UAW Guess that means I'll have to buy classic Vettes & pre UAW stuff
I have alot of freinds who express the same feelings as your post. I have been told my ZR1 being made before it was owned ny the Gov. was the last good car really made by GM, a private comapany. I must admit I am alittle worried about a union/ Government owned GM product. But in the end I thought I would at least give them a try. I believe that Fiat, Lamno and ferrari are all owned by the Italian Gov. They seam to be better cars althought the 458 is a bit of disappointment to me . Lee
Lambo is owned by Audi which is owned by VW I believe FIAT is publicly held, dont know how much stock Italy has in FIAT though UAW = Thugs
Where is Isaac and John M. to comment on these photos? Looks like Jalopnik was right on the money with the Renderings. Hope the cars look better in person than the sketch. Frankly I could give a rats ass who owns GM, as long as they are making great cars.
You'll love this then... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v1_jMRQir8[/ame] For reference, http://jalopnik.com/5858683/exclusive-this-is-the-2014-chevy-corvette. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My only comment is that someone should lose their job over this. There is no excuse whatever for this kind of leak.Unless of course it was on purpose. But I just can't imagine that strategy.Someone needs to be prosecuted, and the vender needs to lose their contract.
Reminds me a bit of a GTR The C5R & C6R won the majority of races between 2000 & 2012 So why does GM have to copy Nissan ? Nissan didnt win LeMans even ONCE during that period. Corvette has a great rich design heritage I'd much rather see visual references to the C2, C3, C4, & C6 than the GTR or some other Japanese thing
Or this may just be a slip on purpose with intention of creating buzz... Which is clearly working. Was never a Corvette fan until the Z06, now I love these cars.
is it just me, or is the previously released jalopnik image "just a little to" precisely matching to the front end in the contractors images, look at the details of the nose piece in each ...almost like it is (basis of) an internal digital file itself!? +2 agreed with all comments ^^ re: styling ...looks like a mix of a GTR & a 599 IMO edit: a thought, is it possible GM would feed out a false design leak like this, so the surprise is a car revealed that looks nothing like what we see in these images?? hmm
And the State of Lower Saxony own some 20% of VW. I believe Porsche Automobil Holding is the biggest shareholder of VW.
This is a great design history Corvette has nothing to be ashamed of regarding their design & race history Ferrari didnt beat Corvette at LeMans until SIX YEARS after the C6R debuted and thats only cus the Corvette team's budget was slashed Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great Photos William, thanks for posting them. Question for John, how did Jalopnik get that drawing so accurate of the C7? Especially so long ago.
William you are correct. Lambo was owned by the Italian gov. The company is now owned by Audi and the cars are much better. I should have remebered that when the Lambo dealer told me to hold of on the 12 cylinder pirchase untill Audi had a chance to re-enginner the car. My 2010 Galardo was Audi redesigned and it has been perfect. I am also lucky to have a great dealer in Orlando. Thank you for refreshing my memory Regards lee
I would guess that someone either saw the car,or someone saw pix,or it was described in detail to the artist.
A bit cryptic but their use of the word "sheetmetal" in quotes and later reference to "renderings rather than actual photos" implies to me that they saw pieces of the car, but not a complete mock-up or prototype, via pix. http://jalopnik.com/5858683/exclusive-this-is-the-2014-chevy-corvette Perhaps someone at Omega Tool Corp (the source of the images in the OP) leaked pics of pre-development/prototype parts?
