Looks pretty good. Think it looks better than the G8 to me. I like the return to the read drive big sedans, just wish Ford would get on track.

From a marketing perspective, I think this may be a way for GM to get back into the bidding for LE fleets, esp. targeting the Chrysler/Dodge V8 sedans. The existing fleets of Crown Vics are getting long-in-the-tooth now, and the existing GM offering usually loses the bids. (Those models would obviously have a lower-spec V8, but offer some suspension options).

Same here (big, rear drive sedans)... however, too bad they're not offering the SS in a two door, as it should be.

Actually, we're getting another Australian 'what-not' car.

    Holden GTO -----> Holden SS

    Same car, repackaged differently.

It looks great and it'll be a great car, but I think Chevy's massive mistake is not offering a 6-speed manual right away. I'm sure it will be offered for the 2015 model year, but they had a chance to hit a home run with this car. I also wonder why they didn't use the C7's LT1 instead of the LS3. Put everything in the new Vette into this car. Rev matching, cylinder deactivation, head-up display, etc. Make it a 4-door Corvette.

Chevy had released the caprice in the same set up for LE agencies. Ford is fighting back with the Taurus.

As for Ford building a rear drive sedan, both the Taurus and the Fusion have options for AWD, which means they are both set up with diffs in the rear and drive shaft tunnels. Not much room for a trans at the moment, and not sure about a V8 fitting, but the ecoboost engines would. Ford could also build off the falcon platform, as GM has done with Holden. The new platform for the Mustang is also being designed, and there's an option to lengthen and build off of that.

I like 4 door with a manual transmission. I'm ok with a rebadged Holden, but give it a proper stick shift!!

From what I've briefly read, it's offered first with Auto only, is a stick to (HOPEFULLY) be offered later?

Let's hope! Otherwise, an off-lease used CTS-V with a manual would look like a bargain to me.

My only issue with the Chevy SS is the price - $45K. An ATS with manual would be roughly the same, and although I think the Chevy is pretty sharp, I'd take the ATS over it.

    I'd be interested at $28 - 29K...

ATS is not even close, unless you rate brand over sunstance, or want a smaller car.

According to AutoWeek, Chevy is confirming they'll offer a proper stick shift and the magnetic ride control....

So, take a new SS spec'd to your liking or look for an off lease CTS-V?

Nice to have options of RWD, manual V8s.

2015 Chevrolet SS gets available stick shift | Autoweek

Chevy’s only rear-wheel drive four door sedan, the SS, will be receiving several upgrades for the 2015 model year to compete with the likes of the Dodge Charger and…well, pretty much just the Dodge Charger.

Performance enhancements include the addition of Magnetic Ride control as a standard feature, as well as rear Brembo brakes to complement the already standard front Brembos. Optional for 2015 is a six-speed manual transmission that should have driving enthusiasts (us included) excited. Also optional for the coming year will be OnStar’s 4G LTE connectivity with a built in Wi-Fi hot spot so you can upload your burnout videos to Facebook straight from your car.

Power will still be dished out from Chevy’s 6.2-liter LS3 V8, making 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Automatic versions of the SS accelerate to 60 within 5 seconds, and Chevrolet claims that the more aggressive axle ratio (3.70) used with manual transmission models will make for even quicker times.Five exterior colors have been added for 2015 including two different greens (Regal Peacock and Jungle Green), as well as blue, red and purple options so you can stand out from crowd. With no release date as of yet, expect the Australian-made 2015 Chevy SS to arrive sometime later this year. - See more at: 2015 Chevrolet SS gets available stick shift | Autoweek
