I have a 69 Corvette convertible. Looks pretty stock, equipped with a 510 ci aluminum big block(looks like a stock ZL-1) and a six speed(with stock shifter/plate). Had it dyno tuned by a local expert. Pulled 600+ or so at the wheels so pretty close to 700 at crank according to dyno driver.
Taking it on a driving tour in a few weeks, should be fun.

    Hi,

Gorgeous ! Could we have some side shots ? what kind of wheels are you using? they look a bit like Halibrands.

    Regards,

When I was a kid I thought this was the coolest car ever. I had one on my Aurora slot car track. :)

Beautiful. I bet it is nearly impossible to put the power down with the tire limits on that chassis.

True. Although this chassis is modded and the wheel size is bumped to 16(9,8)
Car is hovering around 3,000 lbs so decent power to weight ;)

Was that 1969 ZL-1 Corvette the inspiration for the nose stripe?
You could probably go 11.70 at 123 with those tires depending on the rear gears...

Not yet. My next quarter mile excursion will be with a 66 Hemi Coronet that I'm getting ready for a big Mopar event in Vegas. The Corvette is going to be annoying a pack of Porsches very soon.

I've seen that stripe on a few 69 Corvettes-possibly an option or dealer item?
Considering that GM ran 10s in their auto equipped ZL1 with slicks and headers way back in 69, I'd guess with a set of drag radials my car might do the same.

Looks fantastic. I almost purchased a '69 beater back in high school, but took a pass...that was a mistake on my part. More recently, my father in law had a '69 convertible (non-numbers matching) that I offered to buy, but he blew me off.

I was always a fan of the mid-years cars, but man the C3s - especially the early models without plastic bumpers - look great. This car is done right, very tasteful in my opinion

    Good luck with it!

The specifications for the stripe were released in November 1968 by Chevrolet for the ZL1 aluminum motor option. However only one Corvette, ordered by the engineer at the Tonawanda New York engine plant was completed featuring the stripe. That came about as a result of his ordering every available option for this particular 'company' Corvette.

The 1969 Daytona Yellow ZL1 sits in the collection of Rogers Corvettes in Florida. It is in good company with 1967 and 1968 L88 models plus many other low mileage old Corvettes as well. Regarding value he purchased the ZL1 at a government auction years ago for as I recall 300k. Probably worth 3mil now...

Aurora was the best. They would drift perfectly around corners if you had the right touch. I still have an AMC (javelin I think), firebird, and camaro. Didn't have a vette. Mattel Sizzlers were next, kinda like an early Tesla, they should someday use them in a commercial.

Your vette must have toasty seats and it's a beauty, last great looking version up until the ZR1, imo.

Great info. I didn't realize that only one car was equipped with that stripe from the factory as I've seen a few big block 69s with the stripe.

I still have all of my slot cars(T-jets, AFX. TycoPro,etc) sitting in storage.
