I'm putting this question here since it seems like the right place.

I was searching for Pininfarina Body Caddy's and came across the above car. I'm confused because it was bunched up with other Caddy's named El Caminos from the 50's which look rather Meh!

Is the car a one off and what is it's name? For some reason I figure the photo got bunched up with the rest of the photos in error.

If anyone could shed some light I would greatly appreciate it.

Don't know if I need to start chasing one of these like that elusive 50's AC Ace Bristol!

I'm pretty sure the Ghia bodied Caddy had a "roll down" rear window vs the Pininfarina that didnt

So the Photo just ended up in the wrong spot. And its a Ghia and not Pininfarina!

One off eh and and at Petersons in LA. At least I won't have to go far to take a look.

So now the search for that right AC Bristol continues...

I was in one of the Pontiac Exterior Studios from '87 - '99
trust me when I say there were very few who embraced those ribs.......cladding that's another story, ask Mercedes :)
my studio was in the process of finishing up the '96 Grand Prix, and we were asked where the ribs were?
as a token to the rib gods.....we reluctantly added subtle ones to the front & rear fascias
i paid for that at a later date :(

yeah Mercedes did go overboard on the cladding in the Bruno Sacco era. but he made it work :) (Lexus too in the early days, when Lexus copied Mercedes and not the other way around)

I know they had to differentiate shared platforms but I always found body cladding and ribbing to be an awful way to do it

There were two. One belonged to Rita Hayworth, who was married to a Mideast potentate who bought it as a wedding present. I don't know if the Petersen one was the one she owned. I saw one of the two in a used car lot in Encinitas a few decades ago for $14K.
The story of Rita's ride is in this bookhttp://www.enthusiastbooks.com/?page=shop/flypage&product_id=1788885&keyword=baroness&searchby=title&offset=0&fs=1

There were some earlier Pininfarina Cads, including a three seater flipped by a Belgian ex-King, and a couple around 1957 I saw one advertised in Road & Track, wsn't the Pininfarina production Cadillac. And then there's the Jacqueline, not a running car originally but made into a running car, saw that at an auction in Monterey.

Yes, the car at Petersen was Hayworth's actual car. Pictures don't do it justice as it is hard to capture its beautiful curves.
