It's going to be great. Challenger is the most "muscle" of the trio (Camaro, Mustang). It can't handle as well as them, but is better suited for drag and cruising.
Although very fun, I wonder how usable it will be (meaning you're on an onramp, can you floor it in any gear and not have it just vaporize the rear tires)?
I've a new Shelby GT500. I can't imagine it with more power. Then again, the Challenger weighs about 400 lbs more. Hope it'll have a Shaker scoop.
Several articles I've read says it is launching with both an auto and manual. Your call may be coming soon...
I called one dealer and visited another. The dealers do not know but one estimated $70k. I also asked if they will be available in manual? Again they do not know but they think so. They will call me when they know for sure and they can take orders. Lee
Per Autoblog, which is usually pretty accurate, it says excluvisively an 8-speed auto. Dodge's office press release does not mention anything about a manual. 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has 707 glorious horsepower [w/video] - Autoblog Mark
It's supposedly going to be offered with TorqueFlite 8 speed auto or Tremec 6 speed manual. 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat | driveSRT
I don't understand the hype over this car. With the weight penalty it will probably be slower than the GT500. 700hp isn't that big of a deal anymore either. Bolt-on GT500's and CTS-V's have been running more than that for a few years now... Also the skinny 275 rear tires are going to be hilarious.
The power to weight ratio will probably negate the weight differential, plus might add to better hooking up/ off line traction.
Well, it's a Chrysler web site, so I figured they'd know. Fwiw, also comes with 2 piece front Brembos and Brembos at the rear, which is a step up from the Shelby. Too bad they couldn't somehow have engineered it with a Shaker scoop.
had one at cars & coffee this morning no prices have been announced by Chrysler yet Image Unavailable, Please Login
Completely agree with the "Shaker Hood" or Ram Air feature. Even vacuum actuated scoops like on a 1971 Mustang Mach 1 hood. Or better yet the "Air Grabber" hood on only the 1969 Road Runner. https://www.google.com/search?q=road+runner+pop+up+,scoop+image&rlz=1C1OPRA_enUS534US534&espv=2&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=3kC4U-mWMcLcoAS3h4CgCg&ved=0CB4QsAQ&biw=1058&bih=843

I think he was just pointing out the 2013 Shelby Mustang is 665 or 662 hp. It is a fast car. The dealer called me on the Hellcat telling me it was about $70K and he can now take an order. He also confirmed he can get me a manual shifter. This dealer which is in Daytona Florida does a shaker hood on site if the customer wants it. I complement Chrysler for doing this. It will have more power than the 2013 Viper I just bought. They have been improving their products with the influence of Fiat. The Hellcat should be a great car. Best Lee
Be interesting to see how Quickly with aftermarket tuner parts the horsepower reaches the 900hp+++ range. As a simple overdrive pulley will add HP. Then the weak link/s in the drive train will be exposed. I wonder if a Posi-Traction differential is standard equipment?. To keep up with the "Jones" ( Corvette) the New Dodge BETTER have a 7 speed manual transmission. Just learned it's a "6" speed manual!....BIG MISTAKE!!!.
