The guys at Mopar Muscle did a nice feature on my original Hawaiian rusty Hemi Coronet this month. Original car left to rot for decades on the big island. Ordered as a street racer-plain jane metallic mauve paint with factory white painted roof, heater/radio delete, column shift auto and the mighty Hemi. Very rare car, was going to restore and ended up leaving everything alone that wasn't required to make it road worthy.
It gets crazy attention at every show that I've taken it to.
    Here's the cover:

That is really unique patina? Pacific salt air I guess has given it corrosion evenly distributed picturesquely over the body. Had it been from the northeast the bottom 1/3 would've been rotted away like a half-sunk dory...

  11. Super cool. I'll have to check that magazine out.

  12. I saw that you had a 69 CHP car as well. I'm restoring a 72 Fury U code Colorado Trooper car.

Yes, its an unusual patina, severe up top, nearly non existent below.

Yes, I do. I have an authentic 69 CHP pursuit Polara, a CHP 68 Pursuit Polara and some others. They are great event cars as they cruise at high speed very well with room for four!
Here are a few pics of my CHP cars and one of it "pulling over" my old Dart.

That was not my car-it is owned by another socal police car enthusiast. There are probably only 5 or 6 1969 CHP Polaras left in running condition. They were very rare to begin with and many of those that weren't wrecked had their 440 Magnum drive trains removed for race and musclecars.

I knew it would be an absolute zoo yesterday, so I just drove the Volt and parked in the Spectrum lot.

Very cool car, very cool story, and kudos for bucking the trend to "find rare derelict and restore".

BTW - We have a CHP Polara here in upstate NY. Not sure if it's a '69, but it also draws the crowds and been featured in eastern magazines a number of times.

    Cheers,
    - Art

Thanks, the old police pursuit cars are a kick and very popular at shows. I am restoring a 68 CHP Polara that is still sporting a couple large caliber bullet holes!

    Thanks, Jim!
