No I did not get a demo ride prior to ordering as no cars had been made at the time. The options were 2lz interior(red),red calibers, satin wheels, carbon interior (dash) stge1,A-8 tranny. Car is very tight . Came home today. Thanks for the kind responses.
Gary, Great choice on the specs. I really can't wait to hear what an enthusiast thinks about the transmission. I've had the chance to drive a ZL1 Camaro with an "automatic" and it was a great transmission.
I had a chance to see and hear a ZO6 a couple of months ago while my Stingray was in for an oil change. At idle the ZO6 and my car sound similar. When the salesman put his foot into it a little, I was amazed. It seemed to rev very quickly and sounded like all hell breaking loose.
First 50 miles completed- Both the car and the A8 tranny is phenomenal. Obviously could not get crazy yet, but in manual sport mode, max rpm 4500( first 500 miles) the tranny shifts with no lag. Only the sound of exhaust, some supercharger whine, and a feeling of being pushed back in your seat. Certainly Vette with this tranny has no apologies to make to the pdk. The fit, finish and engineering must say have come a long, long way. Warranty is very good with the capabilities of this car. I truly believe this was not a bean counters car, but an engineers car foremost. The only extra warranty I purchased with the car was the tire/wheel as a couple of friends with 15 C7's had a number of flats due to current road construction.
+1 I know it's just me ('m OLD) but I got over black wheels about 2 minutes after they became common. Jimmy
I have the black wheels and kind of regret them. They look great when they're clean, but the z51 brake pads make a mess of them within a few miles. I like aluminum wheels and may switch to them at some point, along with a different brake pad compound.
JV you might try Opti-seal on your wheels as it might reduce your work load cleaning. I applied it to the silver wheels on my C7Z06. Once you clean and dry your wheels it is very easy to apply.
Thanks Gary I had the car detailed before winter storage, so the wheels are clean and waxed. I will see about the sealant before I take it out for the first time. I really need to replace the brake pads at the same time. I'm guessing the sealant takes some of the work out of the cleaning process, but they'll still get dirty. Do the brakes on your car generate lots of dust too?
Jim so far hasn't been worse than any of my other cars. Going to see if the Opti-seal makes significantly less cleaning with better outcomes. Will also be trying recommended SONEX wheel cleaner. If a problem exists or is unacceptable will eventually will switch pads.
Great to hear Robbie, now let's see some pictures and hear about you initial thoughts. I am still at the very impressed mind set as to what it is and how well it does it. Will be time for it's first oil change soon and it's clear bra installation tomorrow( prob. sunteck). No issues. Was at the dealership yesterday just to hang a bite and was impressed at some the high end trades coming in which included a 458 (2010) and a pre P1 McClaren. I think the 458 is one of the most beautiful, purposeful Ferrari cars ever produced!
