Its a 428 block with a set of aftermarket SOHC heads on it. It would run better with down draft carbs/manifold. Surprised its worth that kind of money if it really is. The SOHC looked cool but there are better big V8's.

I SEE the valley between the intake runners to designate that cross ram manifold as being "Long"

 

Correct. It was all about the internal length of the dividers in the manifold runners or tubes. Long ram dividers started near the carbs and short ram dividers started half way down.

There was a 426 max wedge too. The exhaust manifold were cast iron tri y.

Imagine those exhaust manifolds getting HOT!...might have blistered more than a few hood paint jobs!

Would enjoy hearing a video clip of a 426 Hemi utilizing a "bundle of Snakes"

Would have been nicer with Hillborn injectors on top and a set of zoomies, 1960's NHRA style.

 

Ya but Hillborns are a real PIA on a street car. We had it on one of the LSR cars and what a pain. 2 rows of Weber IDA's look cool too.

Ford SOHC had a terrible cam drive system. If you want to run Ford a straight up FE or a Boss 429 is the way to go. SOHC was a cool look in a Cobra though.

 

I can only imagine - they look sinister and difficult all at the same time!!!

If memory serves, there are "phony" Hillborn style trumpets for carbs (maybe even Webers) that emulate the look without the pain...

Too bad I missed this thread. Yeah, the 413 was the opponent in the infamous song Shutdown. I remember a looooooong time ago one of the classic car mags did a drag race between a FI Stingray and a 413. If I remember right, the 413 won every time.

 

A Stingray would never hook up. Any fast Stingray on the drag strip had a live axle installed.
