Auction Week Activities

Pretty sure I've been to the graveyard several years ago. I think it is still open to the public, but if you are staying in Scottsdale it is going to be around a 2 hour drive each way.

 

I would highly recommend Ron Adams' "Via Corsa Car Lover's Guide to Arizona" which provides awesome insight into our periodic shows, museums, regional drives, etc.

With regard to the "bone yard" in Tucson, I don't believe the DOD facility is open to the public, but there are two interesting air and missile museums in southern Arizona:

Keep in mind that these two facilities are at least a three hour drive from the Scottsdale area on a miserable stretch of road.

 

I'm headed down too between the 16th and the 20th. Are you locals doing anything that weekend?

I just got my Barrett Jackson tickets, so I have my Sunday on the 19th figured out. 12th, I will be at Concours.

 

the best show in town will have a Ferrari GTO and a Cobra Daytona Coupe, at the Biltmore on January 11th. Ticket prices are a little steep!

As info, Friday AM Russo Steele has a seminar for Art of Restoration from 9am to 11am. Need to sign up on their website and/or through Sports Car Market.

 

RM Friday, Cars and Coffee if anyone is going Sat AM and Russo on Sat. Sun is open.

 

Penske Cars and Coffee isn't worth it in my very honest opinion, however, check out the racing museum, it's full of amazing machines!

Automobilia Thurs and Friday, Radisson ballroom, Ft McDonald, AZ

Agree with previous post, for me, the C&C at Penske was a disappointment last year. Clearly if never been, the museum is a must see.

 

Don't forget the Saturday mornings car gathering in Carefree at the Venues Cafe by the Sundial. Small but a nice place to see some cars and have coffee/ breakfast. Usually around 8am. Mostly rods but you never know what will show up...especially this week ?

 

Gooding has a 288GTO!

 

Tours of the "BONEYARD"' are M-F and start on the bus at the Pima Air and Space Museum.
Group tours available and cost .50 cents less for 20 people +.

Still on for Thurs night at BJ, may go to Gooding Fri morning to see the GTO, its the only one of the supercar Ferraris I've never seen in person.

 

Did Bonhams and Gooding Wednesday afternoon, lots of awesome cars. BJ on Thursday was its usual circus. Amazing how much stuff they can cram into one event. Russo and Steel this morning. It was a good week.

The red 328GTS at BJ was the nicest I've ever seen. The low mile 308GTS QV at Russo was also very clean. The glass GTB at Bonhams was quite the beauty.

I saw my first 288GTO, have seen many of the other Ferrari super cars. 2 275GTB's, my all time favorite Ferrari. Many other Ferraris that were magnificent.

 

Well...looks like I'm missing everything, I drove around the Biltmore yesterday. I feel like poop. Being sick sucks!
