I just bought a vacation house in Scottsdale and I would like to register my 2015 458 in Arizona because I live in a small town and all auto registrations are public record and published. I want to keep it as quiet as I can. Will I need to bring the car to Scottsdale for a smog inspection or is it new enough not to have it done? Thanks

new enough, not needed, plates will be a LOT of $$ though, based on list price, depreciates a little ever year after.

Is there any place where I can go to estimate the cost? Where live now I'm looking at $15k for taxes and plates.

I traded in a 430 on the 458, do you pay tax on the price of the car or the price of the car less the trade in value? Thanks for the information.

Use a private third party agency, the MVD is painful.
Desert Title & Tag Vehicle Registration and Renewal - Arizona Third Party MVD
It only cost me $15 and 15 minutes and I walked out woth everything; plates, tabs, registration and title with no need to mail me anything.
Cars 5 years and newer don't smog check.

I had a tricky Q regarding AZ notary requirements on an out of state private party purchase to resolve a lease payoff a issue. Every time I phoned the AZ Motor Vehicles Dept they would give me different answers. On advice of a friend I went to Desert Title and I was out in 5 mins; the lady had the correct details on the Out of State title that made the transaction smooth.

In Prescott, Arizona, I transferred the titles and plates on 3 cars in about 40 minutes. Never seen it so easy (obviously after living in Kommiefornia). And it was relatively cheap for an older car. My wife's Porsche Cayenne diesel was pricey for tags, however.

I think they are starting to crack down on this (IRS/State of Arizona?), or am I wrong?

I have though about this, but I think I will stick to registering it in AZ. Not to long ago I read about some people getting in trouble for this, and I don't want the hassle or worry.

You can do an Arizona LLC owned by a trust for anonymity with very little effort and cost. There is no issue with this as you/the LLC will still be paying fees and taxes on the car. It's nice though as no one will have a clue who owns the car. Not even the po po.
