Where to stay in Albuquerque or Santa Fe

    I need suggestions on a place to stay in Albuquerque or Santa Fe on my trip from Nebraska to Scottsdale. I have not decided on where I am going to stop, my thought is to stop where they have the best hotel. I am only staying one night so I don't need a 2k per night room but something nice, relaxing and clean, as I'm making the drive by myself. Secure parking is a must. Thanks in advance for the advice.

    Embassy Suites in AQ. Can't make a recommendation for Santa Fe.

    Suggest you look at Hyatt Tamaya that is between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Nice upscale resort and with a tip the valet will probably let you park your car in the courtyard with some pylons around it. Only a few miles west of Interstate 25

    Santa Fe in town - La Fonda - secure garage parking, La Posada - secure surface parking within hotel/spa compound, Inn at Loretto - secure garage parking, Eldorado Hotel - secure garage parking.

    about 6 miles north of town, near the Santa Fe Opera, Rancho Encantado - a Four Seasons hotel. Surface parking - patrolling security. This hotel is pretty isolated - random thieves are not hanging around/passing by.

    Great suggestions...lived in Santa Fe for five years and stayed at many of those listed. Hope you can stay in Santa Fe for a day to enjoy:)

    Just stay in Santa Fe so you can go to Clafoutis for breakfast...

    I had a good guide from a realtive on Sante Fe, I'll see if I can find it...

    Definitely make it to Santa Fe. The food in Santa Fe is amazing and unless you go to McDonalds it's almost impossible to get a bad meal anywhere in the entire town. The restaurants are numerous and provide fine dining to Mexican fare that is the real thing.
    Here's just a few of the locals favorites.
    Maria's...known for really strong Margarita's (doubles) and authentic Mexican food.
    The Coyote Cafe...Famous for exquisite food and the 'Roof Top Cantina' an outdoor patio on the roof of the Coyote Cafe...more casual and laid back fare...comes out of the same kitchen.
    The Pantry known for great food and famous for breakfasts.
    Gabriel's out of town and north on 84/285 about 8 miles...great food and known for the amazing Guacamole made fresh at your table...a must have also the best Carnitas in Santa Fe. Inside dining with a fireplace and a nice patio outside under the trees.
    Cowgirl Cafe...a funky little place with a variety of fun food.
    I could go on forever there are so many great places in Santa Fe...have fun.:)

    Thanks for all the advice, Santa Fe sounds like a great place, I wish I could spend more time there but it sound like a perfect place to stop for the night.

    So basically everything was booked in Santa Fe, but I found one place The Hacienda & Spa at Hotel Santa Fe. It gets good reviews on Tripadvisor, does anyone have knowledge of this place? The most important thing is cleanliness and comfort. I know I wanted a secure parking place earlier but I'm not taking the Ferrari now so it's not as big a deal. Thanks again.

    Try Buffalo Thunder north of Santa Fe about 10 miles. It's fairly new and the rooms are nice. It's the largest Indian casino in New Mexico... I think it's run by the Hilton. A couple of nice restaurants as well as a large buffet. Google them to see some pics.
