    who here has driven one?

    any feedback?

i might be in the market for the ultimate DD soon and dont have to have a sedan.

the new DBS is drop dead stunning but not much more than a DB9.

interested if anyone has been behind the wheel of a 599.

do you think it will tank in price like previous all non V8 ferraris?

I think you'll find people suggesting alot of cheaper alternatives, such as the considerably better looking 575

i have to add that i think the AMG CL63 is another drop dead stunner.

as far as the 575 goes, i must speak my mind. i cant stand the looks. i have never warmed to the 550/575 look.

agree 550/575 for me was always a dated looking car.

Surely being a daily driver won't help with resale?

But then I guess if you were in a position to have a 599 as a DD, does resale really come in to it?

Astons are gorgeous in the flesh...it's a tough call

I'd stay away from the Benz though...not in the same league in terms of true style IMO

    resale definitely relevant for me.
i think you will find (i have) for all those that have hard earned cash, resale is relevant to a degree.
happy to burn a figure each year but no need to be silly about it.

id be interested if i am alone on the resale question.

in that league, i dont necessarily think a 599 is THAT much more desirable than a DBS/DB9/CGT etc... so there are choices and you neednt take a choice that will cost you twice as much unless you are totally and utterly besotted by a car.

exotics in the 200k - 400k bracket drop 40 - 50k per year typically for the first few years. thats a big enough burn. no need to go burning double that.

as a DD, i expect it will only do 8,000km a year for a 2-3 years.

DD doesnt mean only car in use.

Fair enough and valid points. I for one would be concerned about resale to an extent as well, but I guess it's all relative.

Some nice machines in that league either way!

if you use 2 seats 90% of the time, save 70k off a DB9 and get a AMV8.

599 seems like a great car, but i personally think that you'd be better off with a AMV8 as a daily, then in a few years a nicely used LP640 as one of the weekend beast.

Pap reckons.............drive them all and pick whichever one you like the best. **cough 599, cough** :):)

I am pretty sure that the 599 will the best performer out of them all. But you may like the DBS/DB9 better? :):)

From what I have read in the 599 section, the 599 is awesome and people are paying BIG dollars over reccommended retail for these cars so they do not have to wait for one. Thats how good they are!!! They even get asked about taking a 'big hit', like all Ferrari V12's do, but from what I have read, this does not bother the owners because they love the car so much. :)

Here are some pics to wet your appetite mate.......;);)

The only reason I would take a 599 is because the obvious reason that the F40 cannot be road registered.........yet. :):)
Otherwise, the F40 is right up there in my 'dreams'. As is the Enzo. ;);)

YSS, no-one here has driven a 599 AFAIK - which makes it the one to go for. :)

The other cars you mention are nice but the order of preference for those mentioned here for me would be:

    1. 599
    2. CL63 AMG
    3. Daylight
    4. DBS.

I agree on the 575 - surely the plainest looking Ferrari on the road.

Re AMV8 - nice little car but not in this league. In your garage, it would be more of a beater than a daily driver. :D

Another thought is the CL65 - more torque than anything else and still much cheaper than the 599. Still rare too.

Don't worry about resale on any of the above - whatever you get, I buy it from you when you are sick of it. I promise to pay you a fair price. :p

this won't worry you yss but surely that dash would be a major nuisance when the gremlins get in and all the sensors start to age

That's why they invented trade-in time John. Btw, why would that dash be more of a pita than other dashes?

Just before the release of the 599, a mate of mine needed an upgrade. We drove a bunch of cars and he was heart set on the DB9 but his problem was that we cruised by a Merc dealer one arvo and he drove an SL65AMG.

Made the Aston look like a kit car by comparison. Fit and finish were not even close to the same level. Sales guys actually talked him out of the 65. Reckon it had too much power and wasn't that driveable. He settled on an SL55AMG and really loves it. Then the 599 came along. He drove two and reckons it's an even better car than his SL55. Now that's a big statement as I've never been in ANYTHING that is as well put together as the SL55AMG. The panel fit, attention to detail, dashboard stitching etc. Everything is just perfect. And Mike can't fault it either and drives it every day.

But....he reckons the 599 is better so has placed an order even though he's only been in the Merc for 10 months.

    So there's another opinion.

If you're shopping in *that* league then 599 all the way.

Don't all mercs look pretty much the same as the *other* 45 models after only 100m?

Don't big mercs suffer major resale hernia compared to all else in the "normal" car category?

Doesn't the presence of *any* Ferrari alert you on the subether, fry your retinas and give you whiplash from 1km away?

Don't you want to have excitement, stimulation and pleasure even from it sitting there, let alone driving, year in and year out?

    Absolutely re!! :):)
From all reports mate, this is the best Ferrari 'road car' ever made. :):)

    One guy in the 599 section bought two 599's. A Rosso/tan and Nero/nero. :):)
Another guy bought two 599's also. Both Nero/nero. One for him and one for his brother. :):)

They all come to the same conclusion.........the 599 is the best Ferrari the they have ever driven. :):)
Would be awesome if an Aussie Fchatter (mhh or yss ;)) gets one. I am sure they would be very impressed. Mark may even be converted from the darkside to the prancing horse forever if he drove a 599! :D:D
