And seeing that discussion is over, anyone want to comment on the authors view of the car that - to me at least - seems to be perhaps the most overrated in the history of cars?
(No, I haven't driven one. And I don't want to after reading this)

The 275? The owners tell me they're awesome.

I read that article again.....I understand you 575 owners want to believe it 'won', but I STILL maintain that it was written in a purposely ambiguous manner so that the owners of any of the cars, apart from the Daytona, would think their car was the best.

More importantly, I've driven 550/575/599 and even though I don't like any of them particularly, there is no doubt that the 599 is the best in every way by a significant margin.

Sorry 575 owners! It won't be long before the 599 rises in price to a figure well above the 575 IMO.

Fair enough. That's your call.

But the last bit only matters if the people who bought a 550/575 bought their car in the hope of making money, instead of to drive a lovely car.
If they agree with the author, it seems they have already "won".

Not to mention pretty much every time an "internet expert" (especially on this part of this website) predicts something about the market the exact opposite happens.

well, you say that, but actually that argument was used in the past that the 'market' prefers the 575..the price being higher than a 599. I see it differently. 599 was still too new and the original owners were jumping out of them into the F12. It's already changing, and in a couple of years I predict a 599 will be more expensive than a 575...which will destroy the last bit of 'proof' the 575 owners have to demonstrate their car's superiority.

To some extent that may be the case, but that article seems to suggest that a 550/575 is a "better" car than a 599 even if the 599 is faster. Just the authors opinion of course, but interesting anyway.

Regardless, my observation is that most mainstream (ie. not "special") Ferraris seem to work on an upside-down bell curve in terms of market value. They drop like a stone initially, then hover around the bottom for some time, and then after that point you finally see which are the more "desirable" ones.
They start to rise. Some slowly, some quickly, but overall they rise.
The less desireable ones continue to bobble around where they bottomed out.

I did. Came to pretty much the same conclusion.

"The 550 and 575M nailed that dual character perfectly. They’re a delight to drive slowly, effortless at a fast cruise and yet totally absorbing with traction control disengaged, an empty passenger seat and a fabulous road ahead. The 599 GTB is a very different V12 Ferrari – more manic than the 275, more demanding than the lucid Maranellos, more thrilling than either on the right road on the right day, but less rounded, less loveable and less forgiving".

If you came to a different one, ok.

Bearing in mind we are talking about V12 cars which are essentially very fast GTs, I'd say he prefers the 550/575.

I'd say it depends on the day... Even be says so.. However, the inside of a 599 is a much better place to be... All day, any day, for a multitude of reasons. Drive them and get back to me, fast and slow.

Ok. When I enter my 70s and want one, I will.

Hopefully cryogenic technology is working by then, or I'll be talking to myself.

Yes... Well... Just let me confirm I'm not a fan of any of the options between 550/575/599....but i still believe the 599 would be the pick of the bunch based on my experience driving them. I think I'd need to be much older than 70, but we'll see.

Maybe he should read the threads in the 575 section of guys who have swapped their 575 for a 599 and then gone back to a 575.

Total BS. The 550 and 575 are more engaging. The 599 is a newer Barbie car that does a lot more for you( still nice though &#128512.

Did it ever occur to you that the reason people buy these cars is because they actually like them and enjoy driving them?????
