Hi all, What the rough cost of replacing a F1 clutch in a 360? Can anyone recommend a workshop in Melbourne? Thanks Eugene
While on a visit to Melbourne earlier this year I was impressed with the guys/workshop at Black Stallion Motors. I have obviously not had any work done by them so can't offer any comment there but they seem like a good bunch.
to be honest with u they would probably do a better job than some bodgy ferrari mechanics in Melbourne.
Just go to ferrari at least if u pay more its done by ferrari and properly i promise u other mechanics are bodgy even if u know them. Actually if u know them its worse. I got a major done on mine and wasnt there to see it. I think they put it on a hoist took a photo of it on the hoist sent the pic to me and charged me for this and that etc etc BE very careful who u take it to. And im not mentioning names - YET
You are going to need the factory SD3 computer. No independent mechanics have it; but some have arrangements to hire from Zagames when they need it. Zagames would probably do it competently (they have done zillions of 'em); but it will cost 30% or so more than an independent.
really, i dont think so, so you would rather just pull down ur pants and be rogered. or an SD2.....................the brass button clutch and pressure plate on my 360ch cost me $160.00, had my own labour (mechanics) do it then take the car to the dealer who slugged me $1200 for the SD2 hook up and away we went. It can be done inexpensively if you plan correctly
cant help it Pap, when I finally realised that things can be done of a Ferrari without consultation of the "so called" ""experts"" ( www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm ) then any wonder why I wouldnt wanna help someone before they get ripped completely off. We had a dude over here who spent 55k on a 355 engine rebuild by a so called expert....wtf, a low km 360 engine is 10k to buy with all hang ons, geez I did my heads up completely for $1100.00.......these things are made by humans and can be fixed by them, people need enlightenment on the rip off merchants in Ferrariland
Not necessarily - depends what was wrong with it. Price out the parts and machining cost. Then easily 100 hours labour for disassembly/reassembly and this can't be done by anyone, there is much specialist knowledge and tooling required. Built by humans sure, but they have been trained. I can give you plenty of stories of inexperienced mechanics ruining Ferrari engines with simple mistakes, including the authorised service centres in Sydney, who have trashed their share of cars over the years. $10K for a used 360 engine... that seems unusually low to me and even then you don't know what's wrong with it.
I dont doubt it mate, but $55K is still A LOT of money to rebuild an engine in any mans language. Using all genuine parts and the dealer for that rebuild obviously. That engine rebuild cost over a 1/3rd of what the car is worth.
ask pp what he spent on his motor and his was a full rebuild.........i bet it didnt come close to 55k
it was still a lot though! still....i heard that a dealer charged $65k, so even 55 isn't too bad (relatively)
If you reckon that's expensive you ought to see what the full monty rebuild on a 275 or 250 engine runs to.
