I left Salty Friday drove to Yass. David met me Saturday and the trip started about 8.30am some time later we arrived in Renmark about 6.15 pm unscathed by Police or Agricultural inspector people or mechanical issues. The cars haven't missed a beat, able to sit on the speed limit hour after hour.
I was quite taken by Bretts fan club being transported to PI for race day.
More pics will follow as we find reliable interweb places .

Apparently BWs wouldn't ship one sheet so for this trip he's using woven fibreglass with ally foil backing

Amazing what BW will do to avoid making a sale ( at first they said it didn't exist ), although the fibreglass should do the job just as well. Good luck with the trip.

if you run out of posting space for pics Ken, send to me and I'll put them up

a bit more detail would be nice and then it could be massaged into a Horsepower article

Give us an idea of :

    road condition
    fuel costs
    cop population
    traffic density
locust density (I'm still pulling them out of the QV 12 mnths later)
    scenery

Here we are as tourists in Port Lincoln. Arrived about 4pm.Struck a few light showers from Whyalla south nothing too bad.
To answer your queries John. Locusts 0 other insects minimal.Police minimal. Traffic virtually nothing after Yass apart from in major towns and what vehicles we have met so far haven't held us up at all. Fuel costs have been on par with Sydney at $1.61 or so for 98. At Cowell today 95 was $1.63.9 but it sure beats pushing to the next place.
Track conditions. The further west the better they have become from Wagga across the Hay terrific surfaces and even better from Renmark to Pt Lincoln. not at all hard to do lock up speeds comfortably (so I am told)only drawback is the lack of bendy bits. The scenery so far is just different to what I'm used to living east of the Great Divide but from Port Augusta to here the mountain ranges are different so that's interesting.
The biggest rip off so far has been takeaway fish & chips outside Pt Augusta for $12.50.
Cars are still good mine has an exhaust donut leaking but I have spares.Nothing else to report. Tomorrow we expect to hit the Nullarbor
Pics are entry SA race track & entry to Renmark

It"s all a bit of a blur at the moment we did 1000ks yesterday and nearly the same today we are now in Esperance WA. So ok we're taking the scenic route.Yesterday was port Lincoln to Eucla [now that's a place] Today we met the local blue line @120kph and we got a caution, ya gotta love the Rebels. The Rebels motor cycle people are on the road and are going in the same direction so we have been warned. A hour or so later we met some more of them just to have a chat and RBT ,8 cars and some serious looking hardware, but they were nice to us
Fuel got to 2.10 for 95 at Nullarbor Road house down to 184.9 for 98 at Norseman.
Average speeds have been good until the above 145 for an hour out of Streaky Bay then a long time at something above that towards Border Village.Roads are fantastic all be it straight.Weather has been great for GT4s and for PP from the other thread it may not snow but the heater was nice out of Eucla this morning. Not as much road kill as I was expecting
We've been averaging 14-17 l/100ks but who cares. The cars are still performing as Enzo or Agnelli designed them to.

Curious if there is much traffic on the road out that way? Have you seen any cars drive the other way?

I have never been in that part of Australia before, but I know what outback roads are like.

I would be paranoid there would not be a car for many hours in the event of a breakdown.

Sometimes you do not see ANY cars on the road for hours and hours on end out in this neck of the woods.

Sounds like he got a caution for 120 from the highway patrol?

In deserted outback roads you'd have to wonder why so over zealous still.. unless they've had nothing to do for hours and need the "stimulation".

I think so. The cops have pulled me over just for licence checks in the outback.

I think they must get lonely driving up and down these highways for 12 hrs a day.
