Yes, but I struggle to comprehend, apart from a PR exercise (Surely preaching to the converted anyway) what we'll hope to see in our little tin pot country, bearing in mind we have no collector grade Ferraris in Australia nor any race cars of any significance. A couple of F1 cars with Guido and that's about it. I suppose they could host a round of the Asia Pacific 458 Challenge series? Let's hope with all the money that Ferrari make in Australia they can fly out some real cars.
Thats what the press release said. Typically "Ferrari Racing Days" also includes Corsa Clienti (F1) and FXX cars although that has not been officially announced. Event has been in planning for some time, they initally looked at holding a Challenge race at the GP but couldnt make it work, coulnd't get enough track time etc, then hit on the idea of a standalone event and expanded it to a full Ferrari racing Days event If European racing days are a guide, it will be a big event, lots of interest from the public. With regard to FCA participation, I'll know more before Christmas. M
Well, I don't want to sound negative, but curious, apart from the 458 Challenge Series, what we'll see in addition to anything that might turn up at the usual FCA track day or PI Historics? Unless cars are brought in for the event, it will be style over substance surely? The press release (Which seems to very similar to the one announced at the start of the year) is very non committal about other events. Which is fair enough as it seems to be work in progress. I will be astounded if any of the Corsa Clienti and/or FXX cars make it here. None the less, I wish the event well and would like to make it.
Apparently they are planning to have the F1 Team (test drivers), Corsa Clienti and 599FXX there, also Corsa Piloti school on the Friday 11th. M
There has been a preliminary discussion, so I'm quite confident there will be owner specifc events, / packages / invites, but nothing to report yet. Couldnt be " be the largest gathering of Ferrari cars Australia has ever seen" without owners participation. M
I would be keen to join the FCA just for this event alone! Better get a move on. Are there any prerequisites to join the FCA? (apart from ownership of course).
Single and 2-day passes are available now on Ticketek; Paddock & GA. The 11th is listed as "private, invitation only". Parking tickets are also available for both days.
If anyone is interested and didn't notice on the website, Ferrari said they will have the LaFerrari there. Ferrari Racing Days Sydney | April 11-13 2014
Anyone else got the brochure yet? Given the involvement of Ticketek, the pricing is predictable...... To answer the question whether Ferrari owners will recieve any consideration - yes they do! - they get to pay 50% more for parking. On the grass hill - that turns to grease in the wet....
From the "Road to Sydney" application form with the brochure pack: Particpants in the Road To Sydney cavalcade (must be a Ferrari owner ) receive a complimentary general admission to FRD including designated Ferrari parking, as well as a small Ferrari gift. M
Yep, in production today, we waited to include the FRD brochures from Ferrari with HorsePower to ensure all FCA members receive the information. M
Because of the free entry, I would expect that pretty much every Sydney based Ferrai owner will participate in the cavalcade. M
I received my FRD entry forms today. It's a little confusing, no General Admission prices are mentioned. It seems very expensive for the experience though. Saturday and Sunday in the owners suite is $599 with the driving on the track an extra $199 per day per 20 minute session. The "Parties" are extra. I hope it goes well, it's double the price of the FRD event at Hockenheim for owners which includes parking, two days of catering and a fabulous view above the pits. General admission is just 35 Euro for the weekend with Friday being free and inclusive of that is access to the pits. Unless I've missed something?
