this GT4 was on ebay recently but was either sold or withdrawn before i could have a look at it. the buy it now price was $ 25,000 can anyone comment on what this was worth in that condition , i want to have a better idea on prices if i see one again. It was described as follows; Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino 1976 V8 Unfinished full restoration project car. Engine has had a full rebuild including a full set of brand new piston and rings with a high compression ratio. With matching engine and chassis numbers this collectors car will only appreciate in value. Engine is complete except for the heads to be fitted. Most of the parts needed to finish the project are included and already acquired. These include a brand new set of deep dish custom wheels rolling on 255 wide tyres, and a pair of mandrel bent extractors that were custom made and are brand new, valued at $2200. Also has had a fresh new paint job and nearly complete original all tan leather interior. original wheels included. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's not possible to say without seeing the car. I suspect the owner is about to get divorced because of it or has discovered so many parts missing, they've realised it is better to cut their losses and buy a complete one. As the high priest of buying broken down old **** and occasionally making it run, I can tell you at $25K you would be seriously behind the 8 ball to complete that car economically, and properly. The only way you could possibly justify it is if the car was originally black with tan, original engine and transmission included AND the bodywork was completed to a VERY high standard AND you could do the majority of the work remaining yourself. The listing does say there are parts missing, I wonder what they are? If it were me, I'd low ball it (As usual) and if successful throw a cage in it and do a few classic rallies. These cars are extremely expensive to get right body wise and if all that's been done then you stand a chance of getting the car back together and enjoying it for the next 30 years. If you can get me the chassis number I might have more info on it. (I assume it's sold hence the removal of the listing). I see in the latest Thoroughbred and Classic cars there is a nice looking red 308 GT/4 advertised at 39,000 pounds. It just happens to be the same price as a giallo 355 GTS with a lower mileage, both advertised at Foskers. A rising tide floats all boats it seems. It's a really hard car to price, work out what you would pay for it completed, lets say somewhere between $50 to $75K, maybe more if it's really that good. Take off the labour component still due (I'm gussing 200-400 hours) less the missing parts then double it for the hassle factor. Don't get me wrong, projects can be extremely rewarding and great fun as well as a sure fire way to get to know the innards of your car. Just don't go in expecting everything to fall into place. Good luck.
my only knowledge of valuations is the few i have seen on Carsales.com , in fair to good condition for around $55 - 69,000 a couple of years ago there was a 75 GT4 on ebay with 140,000 ks and very worn mechanicals . It also had rust in the floors , doors and wheel arches that one was listed twice for around $24,000 but i dont know if it sold , I wasnt interested in one that would have needed 100% of every component reconditioned if lady luck was going to wave the magic wand i would rather have a GTB QV but we all have a dream
I am of the strong belief that there is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari, and GT4's a the perfect candidate for this theory. They are a beautiful car and fun to drive but so many have been neglected and end up in the bargain basement pricerange. By the time you buy this particular car and sink cash into it,you will be close to GTB Qv money anyway..
chassis is F106AL12302 known history is it was imported into Australia in 1991 It was silver when imported, then resprayed red , now it is black was last registered in 2005 thats all i have can anyone add to the above ?

doesnt it usually follow ; man buys ferrari girl sees ferrari . gets married to ferrari and accepts the owner as secondary baggage girl gets pregnant , man cant afford farrari , sells ferrari girl divorces man ?

ps i advised the guy who has apparently bought it that i would probably pay no more than $17,000 for it subject to inspection. this based on its colourful history , and a concern that it may have been purchased in 2005 from a damaged vehicles auction. I am yet to confirm if he was the end buyer
Haha, that has a slight similarity to my story.. Husband and wife try to have kids but appears they cant, Husband decides to buy Ferrari, Husband returns home one day with Ferrari, Wife returns home same day with positive pregnancy test, Husband tells wife "well lm not bringing it back now!"
Looks amazing, I wonder what the asking price is? It's a shame that a GT/4 with such consistent shut lines (A difficult thing to get right on any GT/4) is let down by a scruffy engine bay (Notice the plug grommets missing), incorrect tyres, oil filter, valve stems and grotty carpet. Nothing that can't be corrected easily however. First thing I'd do would be pull off the door trims, floor and remove the screen to plaster it with cavity wax, if it hadn't been done already.
Wow, a beautiful colour that pino verde. Price seems very fair, though one would have though if it's as good as the pictures suggest, they would be better off shipping a RHD car to the UK for sale.
Yes, strange for a car like that to be in Denmark, but superficially a nice enough looking example, well priced.
One of the nicest and most original looking GT4's seen for a long time, I doubt the luggage is as old as the car, but a nice bonus. Sadly there aren't enough people around who really appreciate these cars and I'd be surprised if it made $60,000. But the world is full of surprises !
Also it appears to have a US spec muffler diaper? Something odd with the Bertone badge too but there is not a close up of it to tell why it looks larger than normal. Very nicely presented car!
Also ? 1977 ? Twin dizzy engine & series 1 valance; but badged Ferrari with series 2 glove box detail ? I didn't notice the VIN.
