Can someone please furnish me with some people/names I can get a or a couple,of leather hides' from. Thanx
He's getting his done down there,I have a great bloke up here, old skool..ie he doesn't look at the brand of car when he quotes or does jobs.
I don't think there's any such thing as Aussie leather any more... production is too toxic... Do as Horse suggested; and don't be tempted to use split or bonded or 'corrected grain' - they're all rubbish.
Leffler's in Melbourne. Australian importers for Connolly leather.(Now available again) http://www.connollyleather.com.au/) Kimbo
Thanx, spoke to 'em and it sounds good. Have to send them a sample and appears to be quite fair pricing.
The Vaumol finish is a surface dyed color and it was used in most Ferraris through the 512BBi. The V8 production used the Autolux finish which is vat dyed on a thinner leather. Leather Colors M
Leather samples sent to Lefflers today, hoping we'll get the job finished in time for the FNR.... .....this year. 50th anniversary of my OFEOHOS this year.
Leffler's were excellent. I got five hides for the Boxer and the 4402 #leather, matched colour and grain on the factory swatches I have. Be careful though, once you start you may be opening a can of worms. the seats I had were completely shot. Webbing, foam, etc, stuffed. They were stripped to the bare frames, one frame was cracked, new "Daytona" strips obtained, they were repaired powder coated and rebuilt. The alloy side strips needed attention, they were repaired re-anodised. Not a cheap exercise, but do you hand over thousands of dollars of "matched" hides to someone that "might" be able to do it, to save $500. No thanks. Here are the results Horse, are you sure Klink wont just skin the nearest FNQ brumby. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My seats were taken apart, re-cushioned and webbed by the same bloke back in early '09,before the leather started falling apart. Dunno why the,all-of-a-sudden,degradation happened......something to do with spirited driving..............perhaps............................you know, the reason they were designed for. .............not sitting outside a latte joint on Lygon street. Unfortunately I think it's a direct result of 3 years pretty much unused in a shed... I was shattered by the degradation my cars suffered over the 2.5 yrs they were in storage. Fortunately both foster carers (together with my bank account ) are getting them back in order.
