I'll always love Satan but what signs do the older than me drivers think is a sign to stop driving these great toys ? I'm 60 and still take Satan to the track, do mid-week workouts with like minded lunatics and unfortunately drive "spiritedly" on the open road. I always drive Satan very slowly in urban areas as the cops are looking for the opportunity to hit it with a ticket. Currently the cops are making the driving of Satan unhappy and it costs a lot to keep him on the road, which I don't mind, but the enjoyment of driving these cars is becoming less and less every day ...... now all I'm waiting for is the other shoe to drop telling me it's time to sell up and move into the retirement home with the other Toyota Camry driving granpas. I think it will be time when I can't get in or out on my own steam or I'm scared of flooring the accelerator. What other signs indicate that fast driving is over for you ? I am currently using Methuselah (Giovanni Millard) as my measuring stick
Fast driving is over for you when : 1. You give your car a silly name 2. You forget to check tyre pressures 3. You have more hair in your ears than on your head 4. You think electric scooters are a good idea 5. You discover that flappy paddles are quite good 6. You think Helen Mirren is hot
So, as long as I don't buy PP's scooter I'm fine to go ? And Satan is not a silly name, it's perfect for that car ... and He use to own it
Well God's 77 and I can think of a NSW gentleman who can't be far off that mark, so I think you've got a way to go yet! I'll know the time's come when I can't: a. get the clutch in due to dodgy hip or b. park due to dodgy shoulder! Not sure which will fail first...and what's most annoying is both bits are fine as long as I don't drive the 308!
has his day. just choose the right parents. at 76 I am already getting in trouble. in 04-5 I could tell I had no business on the track at high speed. I did not feel comfortable a 165 through a sweeping turn. I had no control problem.. 05 was my last track day. today I really have to concentrate on driving to go anywhere. I do not look when I back up and other at risk. not happy at all with this. but I have to accept reality. one day soon 32 cars will be for sale
Yow, that's tough... have you ever considered finding a younger enthusiast to be your driver? I've got that in the back of my head as a backup plan, depending on how soon or otherwise the day comes. BTW, you're still ahead of the curve since you've recognised your own limitations before someone had to tell you, so good luck!
thanks mate, KNOWING when to call it quits is the hard part to admit to yourself, I've never believed anything my body or brain has tried to tell me My boy named my car Satan as he said only Satan would drive this car .... so far 2 for 2
What are your impressions of the 575 Ian, PP reckoned it was boring but he rides a scooter so what would he know ? Friend offered me one of those a few years back for a good price and it had me thinking
I bought it as a stop-gap car, but the more I drive it, the more I like it. Standard suspension was crud and it's too quiet. Have fixed the first and will soon sort the second. Lots of car for the money, well built, fast and capable.
Of course not, because it's a modern GT, which means any dill can drive it at legal speeds. But it is quite entertaining above that, until you see flashing blue lights in the mirror
at the speed limit even the GTO would be boring, remember it was sold as a race car so had no sound deadening, no radio, loud exhaust, and all the other annoying things race cars have to make them great track cars, but boring at normal speed limits. Everything I like about the 355 my wife hates and at the speed limit it's BORING
Just had a look at your pic albums. What a mess the US enviro/safety laws made the Bora and Merak look, erk! Nice collection, you didn't mention the Dino,though....and you put it in the Masser album!
You're mad. Your 355 isn't boring at any speed. I've never driven a 250, but I'll bet it isn't either.
Mate, I'd check the mercury levels in that tuna you're eating Driving This Ferrari GTO Is a Certain Kind of Ecstasy | Petrolicious
hehe. I was going to post that. Was just watching it again last night. Great vid - especially with the volume turned right up.
If you reckon a 355 is boring at the speed limit, you should try a current model. Speed limits are a complete yawn fest and by the time it gets interesting you are doing multiples of the speed limits. If you want to ring the neck of a new Ferrari you can only really do it on a race circuit.
Yep, especially with the home theatre volume turned up to "11", just awesome. The ringtone available for download on that site is pretty good too
