    A $140K one sold recently for $260K,in Qld,through a dealer.

It's slightly possible a red one may come on the market as well,in a while

I'm sure KIAI will have a point of view...he used to own a cracker.

There is one in Australia that has always been well driven by a man of skill behind the wheel. ;)

Oh and KIAI had one too.

    :)

The nickname is Queen Mother, not Queen Mary. It comes from the road test Denis Jenkinson did when the car was new. Amazed by the luxury fittings, he said "this is the Queen Mother of Ferraris". The Queen mother's name was Elizabeth, I have no idea where Mary came from.

I'm sorry to say they're not great cars. Way too heavy, power steering is over assisted, vague and has zero road feel. Kingpin front end combined with a long body means they're unwieldy - driving the Galston Gorge road for example requires 3 point turns at the hairpins. Engine cooling system doesn't cope with hot weather, AC is hopeless, even by the standards of 1968. IRS uses sliding joints rather than CV's, so it locks up under load and doesn't put the power down. 330 live axle was actually better.

Good points are the gearbox (last Ferrari made box), seats (same as a 330) and noise. They're about as quick as a 308 in a straight line and an easy 100mph touring car, but that's about it.

A 330 is a drivers car, the QM is an Italian Jag.

Yes, 365GT4 was a big improvement. Hugely underrated car IMO.

Phil M has modified the suspension of his QM and made it a quick A-B car. He has about 1" of ground clearance

I thrashed him on his home track in a clapped out GT4 .... and he was gracious enough to acknowledge that given one more lap in our session together I'd have passed him easily .... this was after I said to him "gee, you're getting that around the track quite well " :p

I later found out at the awards night who he was to my embarrassment

Phil and I have known each other from the '94 Targa.

He let me pass him on the inside! on one of the stages on our way to Hobart, from Launy.

I went and thanked him afterward and we've been friends since, lovely man.

One of the reason's I got so close to him was he kept looking back to see how far from him I was and he had a small lose at the end of the back straight, did a great job of catching it , was a joy to watch car control of that calibre.

Whether you believe this or not doesn't matter to me, I was there as was Phil and we know what happened..... he had fun, I had fun and the GT4 was circulating quicker than the QM.

On presentation night he gave me a trophy for some BS or other and said to me "not bad for an old bugger" (repeating to me what I had said to him at the track) lovely bloke
