You watching the cricket Steve ? If that Watson idiot ever plays for Australia again it will be too soon. I turned to the wife (she's a cricket tragic too) and said "this will be short", didn't expect it to be fist ball
Well done on beating me to a cricket thread. I was busy texting several people about what a complete joke Watson is... Fair dinkum, he is an utter liability. I'm not all that keen on George Bailey being there either, for that matter. They should have played Clarke. Having said that, I still expect us to win today. England are pretty ****. Tomorrow's game in Adelaide will apparently be close to the most watched event on TV in the world this year.
Just lost another one, and unfortunately it's Smith If we're getting knocked over like this England will be all out before they get on the field Who's playing in Adelaide tomorrow .... Canada and the USA ? They always banish the hopeless teams to the terrible towns I can't stand that tosser Botham commentating
Lol! Is Brisbane even getting a match? Adelaide actually bid for and won the India v Pakistan game for the express reason of inernational exposure. Agree re Botham. He is appalling to listen to. One of my friends is very good mates with Botham and insists in person he's a great guy. But he really does come across as a complete wanker on the telly.
I think we're getting the final unless Australia doesn't make it, then it'll go to the WACA so we can all get on with our lives in the eastern states and forget about this stupid sport
"...Who's playing in Adelaide tomorrow .... Canada and the USA?..." Is there really an American cricket team?!? T
Adelaide will also get a final. Adelaide Oval is the best sporting ground in Australia right now. And come on, face it, the GABBA is the worst sporting ground in the world, and every second game is rained out anyway! However, it does have a decent pitch which produces interesting cricket on those few occasions the teams can actually get out there...
Yes. And along with many other countries they play in the preliminary rounds to see who gets through to the main event. Eventually they'll get there. Imagine if China played cricket seriously?! It would be the undisputed most popular sport in the world with India already huge.
Thanks, Steve. Enjoyed listening to cricket (The Ashes) when I was in England, to ease my baseball withdrawal. Fascinating game...T
Good one. The Ashes is the pinnacle of the highest form of the sport (Test matches). The current World Cup is the pinnacle of the shorter (one-day) form of the game. Tomorrows match between India and Pakistan will be watched by a TV audience of more than 1 billion people.
You idiot. I don't live anywhere near the GABBA. The GABBA has about as much atmosphere as a game of patience in a retirement village. Mainly because you spend most of your time holding an umbrella and looking at an empty field.... The two most famous and exciting Test matches in recent history have both been at the Adelaide Oval: The Ashes one a few years ago where Warnie spun us to victory on the final day, and this years match against India where going into the final session on the final day all four results were still on the table. India went from this to all out in the space of not much more than an hour! Awesome! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good god, two things about Adelaide : 1 don,t drink the water 2 don,t opt to be a bowler at the Adelaide Oval unless you,re a mascist
BTW I opened the batting for the RAAF at the AO, got out for 40, dropped twice from memory, got one 6 (my only one ever so AO must be tiny )
Fifty overs/one inning (innings?) according to web, although English seemed to get out before 50. Billion folks! That'd dwarf our Super Bowl! I've worked with a few gents from the subcontinent and they've all been mad for the game. Always interesting to me to compare/contrast cricket with our baseball (actually, yours as well, since there's an Australian Baseball League). Thanks for sharing. T
Kiwis will definitely feature at the pointy end of the tournament. They don't have to leave NZ at all in the preliminary rounds, and have a genuinely good team. You'd have to pencil in Aus, SAF, and NZ as almost certainties to be in the final four with the rest fighting for the last place. Sri Lanka perhaps the most likely? Pakistan is a dark horse and could do well. India not likely in my opinion. WI will disappoint and frustrate as usual. England not much chop as we saw yesterday. Which of the minnows will pull off an upset? There's always one.
