Oh great, now we're starting threads on fchat full of Porker photos.

We could also have WRX threads too and how about Hyundai... the list of fascinating topics goes on.

Matthew, please use the "Miscellaneous Car News" thread in future.

btw the 918 has been around since 2010, it's not extraordinary - car parks in San Francisco are full of them.

The carbon sills for the driver's side certainly get a workout.

Apart from that, they're a hybrid, so a must have in hyper-PC Silicon Valley

    Yeah!

By the way, I'm just amazed how good the build quality of my Porker is, 30 years old and everything works AND no rust. Ferraris are just rubbish :p

Just wait till you accidentally enter a downhill bend too fast in the rain in your hot-rodded Beetle - you'll discover what forgiveness is all about.

Oddly, 911s are in no way unpredictable or dangerous on the limit. Those claims are from the ill informed press. Plenty of videos around showing how controllable they are on the limit. You should ask aircon and myself, we've been driving them for 30 years. The nice thing about the 911 is the seemingly impossible slip angles you can generate and still bring them back.

Three cars do however stick in my mind as being extremely tail happy in the wet. 1. E28 BMW. Such fun and a laugh on a greasy surface. 2. Porsche 944 turbo S. like the BMW but very difficult to catch at the limit. 3. F355. The worst handling car in the wet I've ever driven. Completely psycho and the only car ever I've spun on a public road in a straight line.

FFS, Horse is 30 this year AND everything works, and always has AND no rust.

(And it's quicker than a badly driven Boxer;))

Having had a few 944 Turbos and a couple of modified ones I don't agree. Fabulous car in the wet. Makes Wes look good (except when parking ;))

Oh really? I'll informed press? Please explain why Porsche changed from torsion bars to coils then? Did they spend 40 years taming the handling because they had nothing better to do?

A pre-964 911 is impossible to power slide for anyone other than a Walter Rohrl level driver. That might be you and PP, but it isn't 99% of 911 owners.

Any rear engine car is up against the laws of physics, the kindest thing you can say about an early 911 is that the thing steps out at such low speeds that even a novice has a chance. A 246 behaves similarly, but not quite so abruptly.

930 Turbo....the only car I have EVER been able to consistently power slide/drift through turn 1 at PI.
