    What replica are you building?

Well worth sacrificing another 365 or 400 for a pretend Daytona.

I have an opportunity to buy a nice solid 2+2 missing engine and a few other parts.

OK, that's a nice intention but ultimately the most expensive way to go about owning a V12 2+2. There are no short cuts in the Ferrari world.

You'll pay $20-40K for a tired engine, then need to spend $30-60K rebuilding it (depending on how much you can do yourself). So minimum $50K for an engine, which will not be a match for the car you put it in and therefore will only sell in future at a big discount to any "matching numbers" car.

A good manual 400 can be bought from $80-120K, depending on condition and will hold that value, if not improve. A 365 is more desirable and will cost more, but is a stronger candidate for appreciation.

No surprise - I know how much they've jumped, I imagine you'd pay $300K for a good RHD car now, which btw gives an indication where 365GT4's could go.

I will admit I stumbles on the Motorclassica grey Jarama for sale in the UK VIC H plates and all, and then I realised DLs car, even as a restoration project, is worth a lot more than he sold it for, shame I didn't buy it.

    Besides who says resurrecting a 365 GT4 2+2 is a bad idea.
I certainly cannot pick the market and look whats happened to all those " no one wants to collect exotics" that the market says are worth 3 times what were a only 12-18 months ago.
    Id say go for it!
