2001 Ferrari 360 Modena Manual Would anybody consider this car. It was a repairable right off in 07, purchased by the current owner and repaired. From the pics I have seen of the damage and what he has indicated is, new front and rear bumper, rear girl and right head light assembly. Car was completely re sprayed. He stated that he couldn't believe that the car was written off due to the small amount of damage and the insurance company payed the original owner out $215,000 after a lot of fuss. I have looked at the car and it's seems to be the nicest and cleanest I have seen. Very tidy interior, slight wear on driver bolster, easy fix and very fine scratches on body but again easy fix with a detail. It either comes with 458 or cs wheels and has Fabspeed tips. Full history and aus delivered. If a PPI from Ferrari is positive do you think it's a good purchase if the price is right. Any suggestions would be great
Aussie delivered with red carpets?? Hard to believe it's not a UK car. I wouldn't buy it, for $5 more you can buy one that hasn't been crashed before.
The Aussie delivered thing?? Yeah, check the VIN. You don't see too many Aussie cars delivered with red carpets though, it's definitely a UK thing. And whom am I kidding, any 360 is a $100K car at best!
Price it's listed for is high and unrealistic in my opinion. , I would be around 100k no more!! Yes the red carpet is a uk thing and was my first impression
Hypek9, The 9th digit of the Pin will identify the market. A "d" denotes Aus delivery. A "C" denotes UK delivery. This is the thread for this topic on Ferrari Chat http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technical-q-sponsored-algar-ferrari/318113-how-read-ferrari-vin-vehicle-identification-number.html I have a UK delivery 360 with a C in the VIn, and black carpets... Anyway, another easy way to check is the the temperature gauge on the A/C unit. All the UK cars I looked at still had the temp in farenheit..although the intrument panel had been changed to kms and Celcius. I think that a write-off car will alway trade at a discount, and may be less liquid if you need to sell. Not having the original wheels is a negative too.. Although you can always pick up a set in the aftermarket. Be carefull with the 20 inchers. as they may rub the front fenders under load.. Other things to look for in the PPI.. Service history and receipts. EVery part that has been replaced recently means you won't have to. Get and OBD2 history for any CEL code issues. The silencer looks OEM, but they tend to blow annoying white dust all over the engine bay as the insulation material breaks down inside the muffler.. have a look at the engine bay after a run. Is the rear undertray in one piece? They often break around the rear suspension and although they have little impact on performance, they are expensive to replace.. around $2k. Check the gear change smoothness at speed and under load.. 5-6th can be tricky in some cars 1-2 is always tough on cold tranny oil. Check the suspension.. the ball joints fail easily but aren't too expensive to replace. Engine and tranny mounts. Has the coolant been changed regularily? If not, the heat exchanger can corrode meaning metal bits get into the transmission.. Does the car have both black fobs and the red fob? The original imobiliser code and radio code?. I could go on.. but that will give you some things to think about. Alduos Voice has a great webite that goes into some of these issues and more in great detail. Here is the link Buying Guide | Aldous Voice Red/tan manual is the most popular choice so that helps.. as long as you like that colour combination too. I truly think 360's are the best value/performance in the Ferrari world at the moment. The aren't quickest car around, but they handle well, sound great, look great, and are generally reliable. There are enough of them built (over 16000) that parts are available at a reasonable cost, and enough guys around that know how to fix them. And at $80-100k cheaper than a f430 and the same price as a f355, I think they are a no-brainer.. Obviously I am biased owner The general rule is buy the best car you can afford.. and budget about $5k/year for maintenance.. Good luck...
The original owner was probably a pom Seems like he forgot to edit the bottom half of his ad and has upped the price.
Was advertised about 8 months ago and was removed from car sales because was on hold to a friend of his but the sale fell through. Biggest concern for me is the stigma of a write off, and possible issues with resale if I ever decide to move it on
I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. Dealers won't touch it, no one will finance it and some states won't even register it. ^^I'm pretty sure that's correct.
Or, buy it for 50k, sell off the 458 wheels, and turn it into a fun track car which you'll never sell but probably can register, at least in the State it's already registered in.
I have heard this car in real life before. Far out it is loud. Also the 458 wheels look silly Imo There are a many better ones for sale and so I would skip this car.
You will never sell it, unless you give it away for next to nothing. There will always be someone who want's a 'cheap' Ferrari, so it will sell for the right price. Which is A LOT less than $120K. Stay away from it man, plenty of other 360s out there for sale. +1 I reckon you're spot on too mate.
Gonna give it a miss, and keep looking. The owner did claim that he turned down an offer of 98k the night before I saw the car, I thought he was crazy turning it down if it was a legit offer. If anyone is thinking about selling their 360 gated 6 speed please pm me. thanks for everyone's input.
There's a manual 360 spider for sale at Scuderia Graziani... I think they're asking $200,000 or so though! It's Giallo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They are dreaming at 200k, the bubble will burst. Asking prices are not selling prices. All 360 for sale are over priced that's why there not selling. When a good car comes up at a reasonable price it's gone within a week
