Evening gents, We have a 2005 Maser GranSport that currently gets maintained at Zagame in Richmond. I am wondering if Maranello are a better option in terms of specific items like setting up suspension, etc and offering a more individualised service package, seeing as they are responsible for the Ferrari Challenge cars... Anyway, totally open to opinions and if anyone has experience with them then I would greatly appreciate hearing a bit about them and there expertise. Thanks Nick
I apologize in advance for not directly answering your question but I saw a Bianco Fuji Gransport a month or so ago thought it looked sensational, so much so that I had did some research and found them to relative bargains in the market place. Does your car have the FD drive by wire set up? How does your clutch stand up to the riggers of Melbourne traffic when driven like a clutchless manual and not driven in auto mode? Although not talking from personal experience, I've been led to believe MM services do not come cheaply and in fact, may even be pricier the Zagame's, so you would hope they have something better to offer than them.
Although I am interstate, my 456M was serviced by Zagame's before it was delivered to Sydney. They overfilled the oil dry sump to the point oil was running out of the breather system and out of the air filter..
The car doesn't have the FD Drive by wire but may be receiving it later in the year. Not really suprising that Maranello are slightly more pricey as they probably do a more detailed service - they are specialists after all. I was wondering if they could properly set up the suspension with corner weighting, and do a wheel balance, etc; instead of just a basic alignment at Zags. Even a couple of extra things like fixing the leather bolsters and installing new badges too.
Also have a GS with the FD, worthwhile addition and same coy. supply a unit for the Ferrari F1 box. Even with the module, not an ideal box to use in stop start traffic IMO Regarding suspension set up, would also like to find an outfit that can properly set these cars up, general consensus in the UK is to find a Hunter computer aligner and expect 4+ hrs for the work Bolster work, there are a couple upholsters in Melb. that have been recommended but not tried as yet
So its true what they say about dealers... they only know about the latest and greatest and not so much the older stuff.
Thank you for the advice. The car is a toy so hardly sees traffic - the DBWEM would just be an indulgence . Also just purchased the FD pads/SS lines/ carbon/Motul fluid and BMC filter so that will all get installed during the service. Other things to buy are 550 discs, new badges from Eurospares, P Zero front tyres and a new battery. What about the FD springs? Worth the cash? P.S sorry for going off topic
Still would get the DBW b4 the springs Did buy the FD springs but sold to another owner - driveway clearance . Can be made locally at much cheaper rate Discs ... get on the UK group buy- currently 3rd , keen pricing & top quality (unless u can find Brembo's cheap locally) SS lines u could buy Goodridge from Canberra distributor cheaper than FD and same Battery Varta E44 More info PM me
Very clearly...having owned/own F and Ms and seeking good servicing. Go to Mark Coffey at Maranello Motorsport over Z, everyday. If you want cheaper but still excellent, take to Bruno at Maranello Pursang or Paul Placzek at Braeside. Both excellent and highly recommended. Depends which is closer. Feel free to PM me...
The Bianco Fuji GS in Zagame few months ago is my car... the car had new clutch fitted by them and I drove directly over to MM to have DBW fitted... this is my 2nd GS. Back to the topic, i think it is based on what you need i used both. Currently 430 is having clutch done in Z. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
So you like the GS? Whats your clutch life like? Do you live around the Doncaster area? I'm sure I've seen your car twice in that area. Bianco Fuji is a great colour on that car. Looks sensational.
Yes I'm in Doncaster. I had my last GS for 4 years did about 10,000km with DBW since day 1. There is almost no wear after scanning 4 years later. That's why I went to MM to get DBW done straight after new clutch fitted.
Your message box was full so I decide to put my message on here. I also live in Doncaster (Wetherby Road)and when I saw your Fuji Bianco GS a few months ago, i was really impressed just how good the car looks as I never gave a GS much thought. TBH, I'm really after an Aston Martin or Porsche 997 (maybe a 360 or 348 if the right one pops up) but after seeing your GS, it really made me re-consider my options. Would it be possible to meet up in a few weeks time and have a good look at your GS and ask a few questions as I would like to get some owners info on the GS before I take the plunge and buy one. In fact, I really regret not buying that Mediterrean Blue GS that was for sale at MM a few weeks back but I didn't have enough info and had work commitments. Its my fav colour for the GS. Next would be Bianco Fuji. There is another blue GS for sale in Vic and if your views proves persuasive, I just might bite the bullet.
Well, I know this q wasn't for me but thought you might (or might not) appreciate my advice. The GS is such a wonderful car, a future classic for sure. In terms of what it offers for the price point, I really can't think of anything that comes close. It has so much more style, soul and character than the 911 - four useable seats too. The Blu Medio GS on CarSales already has the FD DBWEM installed and even without it the CC box is a joy to use. It is so satisfying flicking the paddle for a downshift and hearing the blip, pop and crackle. IMHO, go and buy it. She will deliver you nothing but smiles and is sure to serve as a healthy investment for the future.
Thank you for the input....for sure at their current price point, they are absolute bargains relative to other machinery. I mean, for around $55-60K, what can you get that offers THAT much style and panache and being a GS, makes it a tad special. I just worry about clutch life in Melbourne traffic but if I get 40K km out of a clutch, thats not too bad at $5k a pop. As for investments......well that is a bonus but I expect to lose $$$ on it. Whom cares if its such a blast....and at worse, it would be worth something approaching $30K..maybe.
Willing to pick me up from the airport if I go to Sydney? LOL I dont mind this red one either as something different! Too many Maserati's are in silver, grey and black. 2005 Maserati Gransport Auto A good excuse to go to the Gold Coast and reacquaint myself with my old steed.
This one? 2005 Maserati Gransport Auto Looks like a reasonable buy for $30k Used Car Research - Used Car Prices - Compare Cars - RedBook.com.au
Not that I'm doubting the values in RedBook too much but if that car could be had for $35K, what a bargain....again, redbook uses the 100,000 km range for that price point.
Here is a picture of our GS. Sorry for the poor quality and hope it works! Image Unavailable, Please Login
