    I was looking through my car library today and pulled out my Honda S600 manual which reminded me of one of my first cars that had an interesting spec and was fun.

    The engine had a roller-bearing crank and 4 Kei Hin Carbs for the slant 4 engine.

    It redlined at 9500 rpm with a top speed of 145 kph and had 57 HP from the 600cc engine

    Fun to drive but was so small compared to the fugly 4wds of today

    I bounced the needle off the end of the 12,000 rpm tacho on a stupid downchange which bent the crank, my dad and I then rebuilt the car from the ground up and then I sold it to buy an E49.

    I still think that was one of the most fun cars I have ever owned and I still have one of the 10 English versions of the manual which was beautifully made and simple to follow as there are many pictures to explain the way things are pulled apart and re-assembled.

    There were no English versions of the manual when I went to the Honda dealer at Arncliffe in Sydney to buy one, so the dealer put a request to the factory and they did a special run of 10 manuals for the dealer, I doubt you would get that from too many non-English manufacturers on a small run model back then (1973)

    If you mean with regards to my 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo, values would really not be that much different I would think. I know which I would rather drive though. Porsche anytime.

    What are you pedalling nowadays?

    Bought it from Kevin Dennis after I totalled the TC

    He had an MGA for sale and I when I saw it I preferred the Ausca

    Sold it to a mate when I went to the UK in'69 - he still has it

    I have a mate whom is Italian. I'd never been to Italy until 2014. Best trip I've ever had. By a million miles.

    When I came back, I said this to him.

    "There are two kinds of people in the world."
    "Those that are Italian, and those that wish they were." :)

    Surprisingly he'd never heard that before. He thought it was brilliant and took a while to stop laughing.

    Yep, and the 3rd kind, like me, who get to live la dolce vita for spells and play at being Italian.. You'll have to come and visit me on my next sojourn.
