Oh, I see it is school holidays.

When I was a fetus, it cost me $10,000 a year to insure my then 308 GTB. Hope this helps.

Mate, seriously, the insurance will be impossible to get, and astronomically expensive if you do manage it. Maybe you're the exception, but the biggest killer of 21 year old blokes is car accidents, and insurance companies know this more than anyone.

You (or your family) obviously have the means the afford one, and if you are actually considering it, then I hope you have several years of motorsport experience, have completed every advanced driving course available, and, most importantly, have a very old head on your shoulders.

If your mum or dad buys it, puts it in his or her name, and puts you down as an occasional driver, then maybe that might work.

    Good luck

If your order the 488 next, week, you'll be 23 when it arrives.
No "regular" insurer will look at it ( age & limited driving history in Australia, value of car) so you will need to speak to an insurance broker. My suggestion, get the dealer to arrange it, they will have the contacts.

    Edit: and what Ferraridoc said.

Or, just insure for third party and theft, and "self insure" for accidents ( better be a good driver !)

I think Mike's got the best idea: shop it to a broker

It's already on order, will be arriving mid 2017. Is it possible for my age to insure on third party and theft and "self insure" ?

I'm not an insurance expert - I'm not sure any of us are.
    Talk to a broker

I would have thought that if a dealer has taken an order for a 488 from a 21 year old they would also have discussed insurance options, but maybe I'm wrong....

    I doubt it.

Possible translation: Daddy / uncle / much older gay lover has ordered a 488 and I'm trying to think of ways to convince him to let me drive it.

    Any ideas appreciated.

It's not compulsory to buy insurance in Australia and dealer told me some of their cilents who couldn't get insured just drive without insurance.

Just because someone is younger than you, no need to make such assumptions. If you're not looking to put out any help or suggestions just move along.

Jay, ignoring all the snipes above you may still need to think about this. 'Self insure' doesn't mean you buy separate insurance, it means you wear all the risk - you wipe the car out, you've just wiped a few hundred thousand out of your bank account; and if you've financed it, you still owe those bucks to the financer. Check out 'ferrari accidents' on you tube and see just how many inexperienced people lose a super car super fast. Go enroll in a driving school and see how you're doing when the car arrives. The courses may help to reduce future insurance. Good luck.

    If you're 21 shouldn't you be jay95 or jay94?

Actually now that I think of it I learned recently that in some parts of the world you are "1" the day you are born... Never knew that before.
