Hi guys, I am going to the VIP Towncars Ferrari Club National Rally, and in order to participate in the track day, I need to add a fire extinguisher and decals to my 360. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to make these modifications. I am a newbie and this would be my first track day. If you could share the location you guys placed the fire extinguisher (and how to add one) and the decals, I'd really appreciate it.
Gabe,re the extinguisher, you need to drill the base to where you/or someone on the track can(theoretically) reach it in an emergency. It can,in my 308 case,be, in front of the passenger seat/fold the carpet away from it's normal position, place your extinguisher base on the floor, drill your holes in the appropriate place and screw in with self tapper type screws Usually it's on the passenger side floor, unimpeded by levers/knobs,seat movement etc. I don't know what you are talking about re decals, this maybe something new,for my experience. You should have a decal where your battery is positioned, that has been around for a billion years.Blue electrical tape,in a triangle shape usually does the trick, and won't mark your paint.
You don't need decals for a club track day. You do need a (useless) extinguisher. To avoid drilling holes in you car, buy some aluminum 1" flat strip from Bunnings, drill holes and attach to car via the front bolts that hold your seat runners to the floor. Then attach extinguisher bracket to other end with self tappers or nut and bolts from Bunnings.
+1 I was about to say, please don't drill through the floor of your 360 to mount a fire extinguisher.
My son has to have a battery position decal to compete in dirt motokhana's,perhaps it's 'cos a car is more likely to have a roll than on the track?
I did a million club track days in NSW and at various national rallies without decals. FFS, the volunteer scrutineers would have no idea if a control arm was cracked, sump plug loose, etc, etc.
Hi Ian The CAMS rules are quite clear We are using Official CAMS Scrutineers, not unqualified volunteers We are running under a CAMS permit Maybe you were running under AASA permit?
No, we have always run under CAMS. I just looked up their rules for lapdash / Sprint events and see that battery triangles are required, so this has changed since 2009. Not sure how a sticker helps in the absence of an external battery cut off (think about where the battery is in a 308 for instance) but that's rules for you.
I do hope you're not being a Krybaby? Right, you're bloody well right you know you got a right to say
