The show is on again 21-23 October, I'll be there for the three days. A few FChatters got together on Sunday last year with the Ferrari club at the Club sandwich. I am sure the the banter will be thick and fast again this year. motorclassica
Hi Graeme Looking forward to seeing you there. I have been helping a mate get his 1952 Alfa 1900 CS ready. One of 6 factory RHD and been in Australia since 1957. Won the Brisbane - Sydney Mille Miglia in 1987. A simply delightful car to drive. If I can impose upon fellow forum members who come along to vote for it in the Peoples Choice award. That would be awesome. Cheers Phil
It is Mike...I can find out for you. Have you restored your sedan yet? Importantly, how is Frank? Please pass on my best regards. Phil
Hi Phil Frank has finally recovered from the cancer surgery which took almost two years for the wound to heal, but at least he is back on his feet. He was subsequently diagnosed with renal failure and is about to begin dialysis treatment. My 1900 is also a coupe - 1953 1900C Touring Super Sprint 1 ( early version with long doors and low roof) According to Alfa Archives the car was first delivered in Bergamo Italy to Piero T. and was later exported to the USA where it spent most of its life in the dry climate region of El Paso TX on the border of Mexico. The original colour is black with contrasting sea foam green trim, which I will retain if I proceed with the restoration. The car is equipped with an original radio which I understand is very rare. It took 5 years of negotiating to pry it from it's long term former owner but I'm glad I persevered as the coach work has never been restored and is in amazing original, Rust Free, and Electrolysis Free condition with factory spec panel gaps - tight and even throughout. The extent of the restoration required is relatively simple and straight forward as the coachwork will only require paint stripping, attention to some minor dents and paint preparation. No rust or panel repairs are necessary. The excellent condition of the body and substructure is consistent with the dry environment where it spent most of its life but unusual for aluminium body cars which are prone to electrolysis particularly in damp conditions and therefore difficult & costly to restore properly.
Serge Cool and if anyone else is there other then the Club Sandwich day (Fclub is on Sunday) PM me, I will be there and free except Saturday morning.
I'm out... surf patrol rostered for Sun arvo plus Virgin fare one way $569!?!?! Big horse race clashes, I'm guessing...
The annual nag flogging has a big impact on everything including accommodation. May be next year Ill put in an ealy post when they release to dates for interstaters to book early
Lol! Sunshine Coast but the traffic is so bad on the highway these days you need to allow 3 hours (!!!!!!) for an airport transfer.... It's just a PITA, especially when using MCY is so easy when flights are available.
Getting to Coolangatta use to take me 20 mins ..... then the police intervened and it now takes me 40 mins Then the traffic near Ferraridoc slows to a crawl and you need to add another 15 mins I could use the Gold Coast HWY but that has 200+ traffic lights Still, could be worse, I could live in Sydney where it takes an hour to go get some milk
Motorclassica of to great start, stunning cars, Reception tonight was terrific, with lots of members of the MMTBC, sadly which I'm not. This Azurro blue Dino is stunning. Image Unavailable, Please Login
