Really good range of cars arrived for display and for judging. We only had a few drop out due to bad weather. I was fortunate to be appointed one of the judges (observing mainly) so I got to see all the Concorso cars close up.
The standard varied between very high to average but with around 25 or so cars entered to be judged, it was a good turnout.

Yeah,well that's what I've been trying to work out.

I thought Ray's went O/S.

The badge on the front guard is incorrect for a Ghia(and Vignale) and for the life of me I can't think of what it is.

...but if that's what it is ,fine...thanx.

It's had some front guard work since 2012.

 

agreed the badge is wrong, attached is the correct version for the period. I'm assuming that Ray couldn't find one when he restored the car.

Correct...and yes.

My 60 yo memory is now crawling it's way back to where it belongs.

The sale of this car is what brought me to Ferrari albeit in a very roundabout way.

When I turned 50 I had decided on trying to buy a Lambo Espada('cos Sports car world,and other mags,had done comparison tests between it,Ferrari 365GT4 2+2 and Maserati Indy....the Lambo having come out on top of most of the tests).

Of the few that were for sale at the time,one was one down Forestdale way as well as an awful S1 near Mt Gravatt.




The one at F/dale was the S3 that Ray had part traded for the 195(that we have all read about after Ray had restored it...in Maroon,in another publication).
Apparrently it had come up from down south with the balance of cash in the boot!

Unfortunately a lot of the paint was succumbing to heat blisters due to not being preped properly.
It was unregistered but Ray said 'take it for a run,we don't have any police around here'!

I declined both the drive and the car.

Ray then said 'would you like to come for a run in my other car'?

I thought he meant the Benz sedan he had parked outside...he said 'no,in the car in the shed'

That's when I was gorn...it was the car he still has S2 330 GT 2+2. He pulled it out of the shed,let it warm for a bit and then we went for a DRIVE!

We've been friends since and he helped broker the deal for me to buy my 330 off his mate Jim.
