RIP to both men. The report was a little ambiguous simply saying the owner was "learning how to fly".. which implies to me not learning the specifics of the P-51 but learning to fly at all! In that event is that an even remotely wise thing to do in such an aircraft? (rarity, any non-learner friendly attributes..)
I'm guessing what they meant to say that he was learning to fly the Mustang. It appears that the aircraft had a black-and-yellow checkerboard tail design.
According to the Sheriff's office... Mr. Bender... “There are a lot of privately owned aircrafts flying in and out of this airport daily. It’s not unusual to see a crash,” he said. Are there a lot at Durango?
