Alaska Airlines departs Sea-Tac with one extra on board

Bit weird since says "the pilot reported hearing banging from someone underneath the plane" and then later says "When asked if passengers could hear the worker clamoring for help, Collins said: "Nobody on the plane heard anything like that.."

I can't see how pilot says heard but passengers didn't? unless was banging on hatch in floor near cockpit door?

Another article mentioned was trapped in the forward cargo hold and was pressurised so maybe so?

 

He was an employee of ”Menzies Aviation”.... Maybe it was that time of the month?

 

He admitted that he was taking a nap. It's exhausting when you are trying to lose all those bags. And all those bags piled up in front of you makes it hard to hear them close the cargo door. Good old Menzies.

 

Someone alert the TSA -- talk about a possible terrorist method.

 

Taking a nap in a place where aircraft turn-around is high. This stuff just boggles the mind. Real stupidity out there in aviation.

 

It's OK. The union will have him back working in no time.

Just like a government worker, no down side to being a first class screw up.

 

Menzies doesn't have a great reputation. He might have been adding a quick gang tag, and didn't get out before the door closed.

 

He just found out is pay of $15.05/hr is now barely above min wage

 

Rampers take breaks/nap in the cargo holds all the time. It was only a matter of time before this happened. I would have paid to have been there right when he woke up.

Well there is a good reason he is a baggage smasher.

Alaska has also stated that this person is forbidden to work on any of their airplanes, ever.

 

On the squak sheet, the pilots wrote, "Sound coming from cargo like a midget with a hammer." On the corrective action, Maintenance wrote, "Removed hammer from midget."
Its an oldie but goodie.

What do they expect. $15/ hr to sling bags in boiling heat during the summer and bone chilling cold in the winter.....no thanks. They are luck to get bodies that can pass a drug test.
