Coming up later this month at Paine Field in Everett, WA, which has become rather like the "Chino of the Northwest": Skyfair at Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection, and the reason I scheduled a trip to Seattle that weekend.

I hope to see at least a few of you there. (There are two in particular I expect to see.)

Boy that's too bad . I am going in for a root canal that day and the day after , my wife and I are going to a basket weaving demonstration at her grandmother's. Sounds like I'll miss some good stuff. Hello.....Hello......Jim are you still there? I hope that the weather holds until then, it has been amazingly clear and hot. Last week when the B-17 and B-24 were here they kept flying over my house. Wore out a pair of tennies running out of the door five times a day. Got the ol' heart pumping when they came over. And I got comments that, " It's just another airplane!"

    Jim,
We will probably park down by John Session's "Historic Flight" facility at Kilo-6 and take the shuttle up to Paul Allen's side.

Check your PM for our phone numbers.
    See you there.

I saw it some time last year and it is just a big ugly airplane. The Allison has foot long exhaust stack extensions and it sure sounds different.

Not if this response from the FHC is accurate:

"Firstly, there will not be a shuttle service provided from Historic Flight Foundation. We are directing our guests to park at the Boeing “Bomarc” lot along Airport Road (we will have large construction style signs along that road indicating where to go), and our shuttles will go from there to the event at the Flying Heritage Collection."

Where exactly along Airport Road is that lot?

Jim, Airport Road is just east of the field, running north and south. The Bomarc building is on the right of Airport Road as you head north toward the main Boeing plant and about 1/2 mile south of it. I think that Dana can probably work up a map or one can be accessed from Google. I'll work on it , too.

The actual building is called the 45-80 and the address is 9819, Airport Road, Everett, 98204. Due east of the airport.
Google Earth view shows the layout pretty good.
    https://www.google.com/maps/place/9819+Airport+Rd,+The+Boeing+Company,+Everett,+WA+98204/@47.9098139,-122.2697193,707m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x5490015ab5ed960b:0x79a1f244329d403d?hl=en

This would put you closest to a route southwest to Minuteman Drive which leads into 112th street SW and west to Flying Heritage Collection.

It's a longer ride than coming up from Kilo 6 but not too bad.

To get there, heading north on I-5, take exit 186 and turn left to head west on 128th St. SE.
It will turn into Airport Road a 1/2 mile west, once you start bending northwest.
Start looking for 100th St. a mile or so up the road and the signs for parking on the RH side.
If you miss it, hang a right on 94th and make another right to head south on 27th. That will put you in the parking lot.
    Confused yet?

I know exit 186 - I stayed at what used to be a Holiday Inn on the northeast corner when I first arrived in Seattle in 1979.

Funny thing about the weather forecast: two days ago the precip chance was 10%; yesterday it went up to 50%; today it's back down to 20%. I've always said that Seattle weather forecasting is the least accurate of any place I've ever lived. I attributed that to the fact that there aren't a whole lot of reporting stations to the west.

We've gone all summer without a drop of rain and, typical of this place , we are supposed to get rain on the weekend that usually doesn't get any. Just like they say, if you don't like the weather in Seattle, wait fifteen minutes and it will change. Anyway, we hope that it's just a few sprinkles so it won't ruin your weekend.

Forecasting is very difficult due to the variable modeling options caused by terrain, temperature and jet stream.
There isn't just one prevailing wind or pattern but more like four.
The four patterns battle each other until one wins out, which is very hard to predict.

Determining factors do not remain constant as in many other places.

It may sprinkle a little Saturday morning but what I am most concerned with is the ceiling.
If it doesn't go above 1,000 they don't fly usually.

Now wouldn't that be fun ! Going to an aerial display with somebody who has absolutely no knowledge about airplanes. We would spend the entire day explaining things like "wing, tail group, fuselage, and techinal stuff"
Steve, hop on an aeroplane and join us.
