I think it's always happened, but with the ubiquity of cell phone cameras we hear about it more. And it's not just the ones we hear about-- it changes the environment for cabin crews when they know that their interactions will end up on youtube or the news.

Airlines used to not be afraid to just not let them aboard. Our PC world does not tolerate that anymore.

Part of the reason that if it is a days or less drive I just take the car. Life is too short to put up with the TSA and the a holes on the plane too.

    Yep, plus altitude.
I think airliners pressurize the cabin to about 10,000 feet MSL.
That's enough to set some people off their rocker.

This is what I was wondering... is there something that people are taking now that makes more crazy people on airliners?

Also, are we not screening oddball behavior anymore before they get on the plane? The plane safety could be in dangered with one wacked out nut on board at 30,000 feet.

No way are they that high.... Maybe a couple thousand feet at most. You would see people (fatsos, asthmatics, etc) having a lot of problems if they did that.

About 8000, although 787 is down towards 6000. There are stories of pilots long ago (50's and maybe 60's) who would crank it up to 12k or so just so that people would go to sleep.

Airline travel is like a pressure cooker. Long lines, packed flights, late flights, poor customer service etc. All this combined lowers the bar for passenger etiquette.....or lack there of. As far as the peeing guy goes.....no words.
